Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travel the world, meet new people, help to blend or merge cultures, and enjoy life -- 1 beach at a time! I came to Puerto Vallarta for a 1-week vacation in November 2017 and I'm still here.
ABOUT ME
Born in Mitchell, South Dakota but raised in San Francisco.
I am a pianist, and have performed in the USA, Mexico, Brasil, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Puerto Rico, Canada, and the list goes on.
I played the piano for 2 US Presidents, and 1 UK Prime Minister; Once at the White House, and the other for a church service in La Jolla, CA. I also performed at the Edinburgh Castle in Scotland for the Royals, and the International Music Festival, also in Edinburgh.
I love to travel.
I also get involved with charitable organizations as often as I can. For more than 10 years I was a volunteer and a member of the board of directors for the AIDS Quilt - New England Chapter, as their Internet Consultant. I have also volunteered for the Human Rights Organization in Argentina.
We all should know by now that a personal note to a prospective host is much more powerful than a cut-and-paste generic note; equally important is for the host to respond with a personal note when he/she cannot host, rather than simply "denied" or "rejected"; please show the common courtesy and respect that you expect from those requesting a place to stay.
There are 63 people with my name in the U.S.A.; How many have your name?
PHILOSOPHY
Work to live, not live to work! Enjoy life while you can... if you wait until you are old enough to retire, you may miss an awful lot. Don't be afraid to live your dreams.
Confucious say "Man wait for a long time with mouth open before a roast duck flies in"!
Don't let my age fool you -- I'm still very active. However, my doctor told me at my physical in June 2019 -- "you have the vitals of a 30-year old, but don't try anything a 30-year old would do and expect the same results."... I thought he was being funny, but I think he might have been serious.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I help introduce people to Couchsurfing, share travel adventures, offer a couch or AeroBed when available, and show travelers around my local area, wherever it may be at the moment.
I have also hosted the film "One Couch At A Time" for several premieres around the world, including Hong Kong and India, If you would like me to host the film in your city, just let me know. If I am not available, I can help you get set up so you can host it yourself.

Music, Movies, and Books
"Sordid Lives" is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, "The Naked Truth" with Peter Sellers and Terry Thomas is another one of my favorite films. "Apartment Zero" is a great thriller/suspense film - it won best Foreign film in 1988 (in English, from Argentina) and based in part on a true story. Also "We're The Millers" - currently the funniest movie I have seen - over and over again.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I climbed Machu Picchu in Peru for my 60th birthday; inspired to do so with a friend of mine who was 85 years old... and amazing experience.
In 1967, 3 of us in a Volkswagen bug drove from San Diego to Guadalajara, Mexico - I learned to drive a stick in Mexico. This was such an eventful trip, and one I will never forget...the good, the bad, the ugly.
Teach, Learn, Share
As I travel the globe, I share cultural experiences, my music, healthy living, and more.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my music and travel stories - as a former travel agent, I have some amazing adventures -- in Paraguay when a revolution broke out, in East Berlin when the Wall came down, and more.
