About Me
CURRENT
Cycle tour the beautiful country of New Zealand and meet new friends along the way.
ABOUT ME
I am from the US. I studied abroad while at my University and got turned on to CouchSurfing from some friends I met while traveling.
I enjoy new horizons and adventure. Learning. Finding out new things about myself and others. Patience and curiosity are important to me. For the last two years I have been working in different forms of outdoor programming for youth both in the USA and Australia.
I recently rode my bicycle from Brisbane to Cooktown and really enjoyed myself. After seeing much of Australia my sights are set on New Zealand and Southeast Asia.
I am fascinated with the learning and growth process associated with traveling.
I grew up in the mid-west of the United States and played sports growing up, as well as in college. I still love being active and I am always searching for new activities that involve some sort of physical movement.
PHILOSOPHY
"The only true wisdom is knowing that you know nothing"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Up to this point I have really only surfed. Whenever I do have my own place somewhere On this planet I will definitely have people stay when possible. I will owe it to many travellers to provide hospitality given that I have received so much. At this point in my life my participation is based as a traveler, but whenever stable, I look forward to the role of host.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My experience has been excellent. I hope to continue a positive experience by meeting more people through couchsurfing.
Interests
I am interested in all types of music, films, athletics, staying fit, rock climbing, being outdoors, and experiencing new things. Working my way around the world. Mountain biking. Cycle touring. Walking really far. Cooking. Been reading a lot more the past few years. Learning how to fix everything myself

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A couple years ago I rode a mountain bike trail in Sequoia National Forest where I rode my bike through a split trunk giant Sequoia tree. The tree was probably close to 1000 years old and I am just an insignificant cyclist getting to ride a device through it that did not exist when the tree began growing.
To this day I believe one of the most amazing, or memorable moments in my life was getting gather sheep in the highlands of Scotland with my friend Farquhar and his father with the same methods they have been using for generations. I will never forget that experience.
A face off with a mountain lion on a Colorado mountain bike trail was amazing I guess.
Teach, Learn, Share
I hope that with my presence as a guest I could liven up the atmosphere with a mindset that is all about saying yes. I have now travelled relatively extensively in situations where I am being hosted (cycle touring especially) and I would like to think I am an easy person to host for my good manners and also for my ability to hold a relaxed conversation with anyone. I am happy to relax and chat, or show up to a host's and promptly be taken on an adventure (which has happened).
If the world is meant to change, it will do so with a change of human consciousness. Caring for your fellow man will become much easier once people realize the connection between all of us as human beings. In the broad scheme of the universe, it is truly unthinkable that we would be hostile within our own population. We have a fragile existence and it should be cherished.
