About Me

CURRENT MISSION

happy just to be alive

ABOUT ME

used to adore travelling but i know Marcel Proust is right writing that 'the real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes'

PHILOSOPHY

if i could give you one tip from the very heart of my philosophy it would be: don't exaggerate planning
and especially as a traveller. make things happen but sometimes just let them do it themselves

Music, Movies, and Books

movies: LOVE the cinema. I could watch again and again: Last Year at Marienbad, Breathless (Godard), Caravaggio, Blue (Jarman), Tokyo Story, Eclipse (Antonioni!), Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, Kingdom (von Trier), My Life as a Dog, Ascent (Shepitko), The Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors, The Mirror (Tarkovsky), Railway Station for Two, The Return (Zvyagintsev), Silent Light, Jules and Jim, Man Bites Dog, Tom Jones, Annie Hall, A Man for All Seasons, A Room with a View, The Fearless Vampire Killers, The Last Picture Show, Drive, Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner, Satan's Tango (ha ha), The Marriage of Maria Braun, The Enigma of Caspar Hauser, ... ,...

music: almost all kinds of music if there is only something special in it

books: Philip Roth, Karen Blixen, Hemingway's "Moveable Feast"...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

done: archeological excavations in Alcazar de Arriba (Carmona, Spain), sleeping the whole night through down the Eiffel Tower (however, i haven't visited it), trying to watch the solar eclipse in the Alps & the mummy of Lenin in Moscow, meeting in Tzfat (Safed) an awesome Torah teacher homeless by choice

seen: Lang Lang and Herbie Hancock playing 'Rhapsody in Blue' together in Salle Pleyel (well, but it's rather an amazing thing i've heard).
Michelangelo's 'Dying Slave'... definitely one of the most amazing things i've seen

Teach, Learn, Share

teach: everything you want to learn from me. it may be for instance an extra-easy but absolutely delicious lemon tart, finding some beautiful star constellations in the sky or even playing guitar!

learn: everything people will convince me i should learn from them

share: a good time, some music, some discussions and a bottle of a nice wine, for instance
