About Me
Hello! My name is Wei Long, but feel free to call me David. I've recently embarked on an exciting journey to the United States to pursue a master's degree in computer science and engineering in Los Angeles. Along the way, I discovered the incredible app called Couchsurfing, and it's been an absolute game-changer! I'm eager to connect with people from all corners of the world, and Couchsurfing provides the perfect platform to do just that.
Traveling and hiking are my passions; I've conquered the Six-Pack of Peaks in Southern California, as well as the towering Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the US mainland. Additionally, I'm an avid enthusiast of Geoguessr, a game that challenges players to identify locations around the world using only visual clues. It's a thrilling way to virtually explore the planet and sharpen my geographical knowledge. The excitement of possibly crossing paths with fellow explorers on Couchsurfing is immense. Let's embark on a journey of discovery and adventure together!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm on Couchsurfing because, honestly, it's like holding a magic key to the world. Moving to the US for my masters was a big leap into the unknown, and Couchsurfing turned that leap into an incredible adventure. It’s way more than just crashing on someone's couch for me. It's about those late-night chats with hosts that turn into lifelong friendships, the insider tips that lead me to places I'd never find in a guidebook, and the sheer joy of sharing meals that sometimes, quite magically, taste like home.
For me, being part of Couchsurfing feels like being part of a huge, borderless family. It's about feeling at home anywhere in the world, and sharing that sense of belonging with others. Every time I meet someone from Couchsurfing, it’s like the world gets a little smaller, a little friendlier, and a lot more exciting. So, yeah, that's why I'm here—chasing the thrill of connection and the next great adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books
I’m absolutely in love with classic rock music—the kind that fills your soul and lifts your spirits. Bands like The Beatles, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Queen, and Pink Floyd, they’re like the poets of our time, crafting melodies that stir something deep inside me. Then there's The Beach Boys and Eagles, whose tunes carry me away to sunnier places and times, making every moment feel like a golden memory.
John Lennon is more than just an idol to me; he’s a symbol of what it means to dream and fight for a better world. His music, his life, his unyielding quest for peace—it’s a beacon of hope in a sometimes dark world. He lived his message of peace, without a trace of hypocrisy, and that’s why he inspires me every day.
When it comes to movies, "Manchester by the Sea" has etched a permanent place in my heart. It’s a raw, poignant story that captures the complexities of human emotions in a way that’s both heartbreaking and beautiful.
And then there's "Norwegian Wood" by Haruki Murakami. This book, it’s not just words on paper for me. It’s a journey, an exploration of love and loss that resonates with the deepest parts of my soul. Murakami crafts a world so real, so vivid, that I find myself lost in its pages, feeling every emotion as if it were my own.

What I Can Share with Hosts
Language and stories are bridges between worlds, and I'm eager to teach you phrases in my language or practice English together, sharing tales from our corners of the globe. More than anything, I'm looking forward to the late-night conversations, the shared silences that speak volumes, and the laughter that comes from genuine connection. I’m here to share not just my culture and interests but to forge a friendship that'll turn our encounter into a cherished memory. Let's make our time together not just a stay, but a story we'll both hold dear.
