ABOUT ME

We are a couple...Diane and Troy!

About Troy:

He grew up in San Francisco, CA and went to undergrad at UC Berkeley. He's currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology, where he is interested in how mechanical properties of DNA can regulate gene expression.

About Diane:

She grew up in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, PA and went to a small college in Pennsylvania. She's currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, where she is interested in how chemical energy is converted to mechanical energy and work in molecular motor proteins.

About Us:

We met in class when both of us entered grad school at University of Michigan. We've been together since October 2004, and officially moved in together July 2005. We both love to travel. We love outdoors activities--kayaking, camping, hiking, backpacking, skiiing, and snowshoeing. We love watching sports, especially football and baseball. We also like scuba diving, motorcycle riding, and playing most sports.

We are pretty open people and are pretty open-minded.

PHILOSOPHY

Well, for just a lil' intro:

We are both very much into the scientific method, and that has shaped our lives. We were both raised Catholic, but really don't identify with it any longer.

We both believe in equality for everybody and are very liberal. We believe in education and the tranforming power that it can have in somebody's life.

We believe in working hard, but playing hard, too.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We were couchsurfers on our trip in May 2007 to Switzerland and France.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing in Switzerland and France was an amazing experience and really made the trip something special. We met some many great people. It really seems to make the world a smaller place.

Books:

We haven't done much fun reading recently, but Troy likes The God Delusion, and Chomsky...we both like Al Frankin and Bill Maher...

We've got some background in engineering and biology. We have a decent amount of experience with outdoors activities, and Troy enjoys cooking very much.

We'd love to learn more about kayaking, photography, guitar playing and singing...to list a few...I am sure that there are TONS of things that we'd love to learn. We love trying new things.
