About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to travel well, and hopefully meet some Couch Surfers.

ABOUT ME

I was born and raised in Seattle, Washington. Graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in International Studies and a minor in Spanish. I like hanging out with friends, or going to parks more then drinking at bars or going to shows. I like exchanging culture and ideas with people. I like accents, and i like to hear jokes but i'm no good at telling them. I went to Hong Kong in 2001 and have had a passion for travel ever since. Now i'm living in Gwangju, Korea with my girlfriend!

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a long race and the prize for crossing the finish line isn't that great. So you have to enjoy the journey, and not just rush to your destination.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I don't really like posting pictures and writing about myself to look salable. But its for a good cause. I remember plenty of times being stress out while traveling because i had to find accommodations and didn't know the area well. This site helps travelers get connected with locals and a wealth of knowledge and experience that makes traveling even better. And if your not traveling it sounds fun, to host someone else and share there experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first experience wasnt from the website but i was a bit lost at a bus station and met a teacher in Bangkok who was on a field trip with some of his students and we had dinner together and one of his students hosted me, and he showed me around Bangkok, and i really had fun on the boats in the canals. I also visited the school he taught at and sat in on some lessons and talked to his students. It was an unexpected addition that made the trip extraordinary. My first CS experiennce was couchsurfing in London with a great girl and were in a serious relationship now in Korea!
i also have to mention the great time i had at the CS surfing meeting i went to in Morocco where i had a great time on the beach, in the surf, and eating the most sardines, hehe, and above all, having a good time with great people. Oh and thanks to my special friend in Casa Blanca for lending be the wet suit and showing me the local boogy boarding spots where the waves crashed right on the rocks. That was pretty exciting!

Interests

gardening, going to the beach. I spend a lot of my time from February to October gardening. And when the weathers nice, i like to go to go swimming at the lake and jumping off the high dive.
I really enjoy Seattle's spring and summer but the fall and winter's are long and gray.
Cooking, I'm not a chef, but i like to help out in the kitchen and enjoy a meal cooked and shared with friends. I also like to eat a lot. So if you have delicious tasting food, watch out!
Played soccer, baseball, basketball, and football growing up. Basketball is my favorite, but I don't play much anymore. I'm always up for a pick up game though, be it soccer, volleyball, frisbey. Oh I really hurt my foot playing sooccer on the beach in Morocco and had to hobble around for a while but it was worth it!
I guess I should add Korea to my interests, since I'm living here now and trying to learn the languge. And doing my best to eat as well as i can. Tip for anyone who likes food. Korean food is some of the best ive ever had!
