About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live a full and rich life having fun every single day.
To help others, especially the disenfranchised.

ABOUT ME

Currently, I'm working as an Americorps volunteer in service to America, or VISTA, at a local shelter for at risk, abused, and homeless youth. I am an artist, traveler, mother, lover, friend and I own my own business, From the Ends of the Earth, which incorporates many of my interests. I travel to find new artisans to work with, I get to teach customers about fair trade and cultural practices, I work with artists and am surrounded by handmade arts and crafts from around the globe every day. I meet many interesting people, and I don't have a boss.
I also teach yoga.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind to everyone. When I die, I want people to say what they said about my uncle when he passed away. The entire room full of people from all over the country who came to honor him discovered that each and everyone of them thought they were his favorite and were proud of that. He never said they were, he just made every one feel that special.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Travel should be for everyone, not just those who can afford hotels.

Music, Movies, and Books

world beats, jazz, blues, folk, rock, most music has something to offer...indie films & foreign films (especially asian)...My favorite author is Toni Morrison so I guess you could say I like fine literature and travel books

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Perahera festival in Sri Lanka. I got invited into one of the temples while they were preparing for the final parade and got to see the "inner workings" if you will of how they prepare. It included drumming, body piercing, and fire walking. What an experience to be right there and I even got to dance with them in their inner circle!

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Sri Lanka, Syrian Arab Republic, Turkey
