About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be kind, open, aware and to live in wonder.
Wendy:
I live in Winchester, Virgina. I have two grown children and two amazing grandchildren. I love to travel and host folks in our home. I think Couchsurfing is a fantastic way to see the world, meet great people.

PHILOSOPHY

I am trying to live with an awareness of my thoughts, words and actions, be a good citizen of the world, care about others, take care of the environment and have fun along the way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have been participating in Couchsurfing for about fifteen years with my husband Gary. His profile is "frisbeeguy". We both surf and host, so come on down to beautiful, historic Winchester, Virginia and enjoy our cool little town!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Every experience involving couchsufing has been very different from every other experience and they have all been wonderful. We have been couchsurfing in the States/Canada as well as international with trips to Italy, Germany, Venezula and Ireland!

Interests

Gee, I think travel would have to be number 1. I love to meet new people & experience different cultures. I enjoy making my home a warm, welcoming place to be by hosting parties, house concerts and guests. I enjoy building community, dancing, taking photos, doing yoga, digging in dirt, riding my bike, hiking, watching movies, participating in the creation of our local Renassaince Fair, Ravenwood, and reading a good book. And EVERYTHING with the grandkids!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies and books...the same...it has to be a great story. I enjoy themes about people and the life experiences that they learn and grow from. I like a riveting documentary and a sweet children's story.
Music..all kinds except the kind that is just created to make noise and promote violence.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wendy: When I was 15 my Dad and stepmother took me, my brother and two sisters out of school and on a trip around the world for almost a year. It opened my eyes to how people lived in many different cultures, and gave the travel bug that lives inside me today.

Gary: Winning the World Freestyle Championships in 1995...Playing at 4 World Ultimate Championships...Dancing in professional ballet companies... marrying the love of my life!

Teach, Learn, Share

We can teach you some contra dancing or waltzing...how to juggle...how to make BIG bubbles, fun toys for all ages...
