ABOUT ME

I am a Graduate Student, working on a Master's degree in Medieval History. I am a former school teacher. I love music, and play a number of instruments. My musical tastes are eclectic, ranging from punk rock to more indie stuff to traditional country and bluegrass. Most of my travelling has been within my own country, when I used to travel around in bands. I also recently visited the UK and Ireland. I couch surfed in London and Cardiff and it was a great experience.

PHILOSOPHY

My basic philosophy of life is to try and learn something new all the time.

Interests

I am interested in European History, particularly Medieval England and France. I love books and music. As for sports, I am interested in soccer and baseball, though I'm very bad at keeping up with any of them...so I'd call myself a casual fan.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of different music, from punk rock to indie to bluegrass. Some of my favorite bands and artists are The Ramones, The Get Up Kids, The Misfits, The Smiths, The Jam, The Damned, Hank Williams, The Stanley Brothers, The Pogues, The Dubliners, Frank Sinatra, The Strokes, Dean Martin, etc.

I love to read. I mostly read books about Medieval history, mysteries, or sci-fi/fantasy/horror. My favorite books are The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, the Song of Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin, The First Crusade by Thomas Asbridge, William Marshal: Knighthood, War and Chivalry, 1147-1219 by David Crouch, Out of the Silent Planet and Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis, and the stories of H.P. Lovecraft.

I like all kinds of movies. I am a big fan of horror movies. Some of my favorite movies are Casablanca, The Godfather, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Rocky, Halloween, The Terminator, Horror of Dracula, and Dawn of the Dead ('78).

My favorite TV shows are It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Sopranos, Flight of the Conchords, Star Trek, and Doctor Who.
