About Me

Grew up in Houston, but have lived in Seattle, Austin, Chicago, London and 10 years in NYC. I'm back in Austin and working in a strategy group for a start-up tech company by day, freelance foodie writer by night. I'm an avid traveler and photographer.

Note to couchsurfing comunity: I am very respectful, responsible and hospitable. I welcome your visit and hope to see some of you out on the open roads.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just discovered this site. I often use airbnb.com as an alternative to hotels and really have had good experiences. I wish this site existed in college! I am looking to make friends and connections to new cultures and help others when I can.

Interests

I enjoy learning about new cultures, eating most any food from fine dining to street food, live music, art, museums and the great outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Cliche but really have favorites in most any genre. The best recent live shows I've seen this past year have been Phantogram, Interpol, Disclosure, Run The Jewels, The Suffers, The Ton Tons. I listen to a lot of older music too - jazz, classic rock, and old school hip hop and classical at times. Movies: Favorite directors are Spike Lee, Scorsese, Gus Van Zandt, Fellini and favorite is Kubrick. Favorite books are usually biographies, favorite is probably Catcher in the Rye.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Opened a bottle of wine with a shoe (and I can teach you how too!) :-)

Teach, Learn, Share

I live in Austin - it is an underrated cultural center. There is lots to see learn and experience here and I'm a pretty decent tour guide. Also - I can teach you how to open a bottle of wine with a shoe, per previous.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Directions, guidance, off the beaten path suggestions (or on path, if you prefer). From dives to five star, whatever your taste I can help you get there. Very plugged into the arts and culture scene and can help with recommendations anywhere I've lived or traveled to.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Canada, France, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, United Kingdom, United States
