About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to see the world and meet interesting people along the way.

ABOUT ME

I am more focused on cataloging memories and experiences than I am on the accumulation of stuff. I am open minded, outgoing, athletic and have a finely tuned sense of humor. I enjoy getting to know people and avoid event (weather) talk for the more exciting topics.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that happiness is a state of mind. I refrain from judging other people because comparing what they have done to what you might have done is to compare apples and oranges. I appreciate and respect people's differences. I consider it to be like trying different foods. Some you may enjoy, some you may not order again but respect that they are on the menu because someone finds them delicious. I like to bounce ideas off people and for them to do the same. I do not believe in anything so strongly that a solid argument based in logic can't change my mind. I am very open minded and tolerant of other's opinions and experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to all kinds of music and read a wide range of books. The past 3 books I have read are Incognito, a book about neuroscience and how our brain makes us who we are, The First Americans, a rebuttal to the Clovis Man theory and Fight Club. I also have a subscription to The Economist which I read weekly. My favorite writer is Hunter S. Thompson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in Chaiyaphum Province, Thailand, meeting the Thai side of my family for the first time. We slept under mosquito nets and got up at 4am, took a motor scooter out to Aunt Nok's farm and caught crabs and prawn in the rice patties. Then we brought them back to her outdoor kitchen and fried them up. We made enough for us and extra for the monks, who they feed everyday.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think that you can learn something from everyone and it is up to you to be observant enough to decipher the message when it comes. To attempt to narrow that down would be an act of futility.
