About Me

I've recently come back from EVS in Slovenia. So if you'd like to know more about what that is or just ask general questions - feel free to message me. :)

Right now appreciation is an important factor of life. I try to appreciate every positive thing that comes to me and all the obvious/not-so-obvious help I receive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My 1st experience ever was amazing: have been warmly hosted in Madrid for 2 nights + went to the parade of Los Reyes Magos with CS Madrid and then to an unexpected b-day party/late night meal. I loved it! So I guess I am seeking for more of that.

And... I have just reached my goal to finally be a host! It was such a coincidence that it happened, but I'm overjoyed.

Interests

Languages, drama/theatre, films, snail-mail letters. I love dancing, the shake-my-arms-and-head-strangely kind of dancing. :) Slovenia has taught me about hiking and it's beautiful nature is hard to resist. Even though I am not very strong, I do enjoy a hike now.

I've also discovered I have this interest in education of children. Loved being a "mom" at a children's summer camp, a very liberating experience.

I'm also fascinated by criminalistics and criminology. Maybe it's the influence of CSI series, but I just love watching case solving programmes and reading about these things. Discovery I.D., that is MY channel (sadly, doesn't show on our TV any more, maybe not many people have such a freakish interest...)

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not ashamed to say I like pop music, I love the 80's, especially those long-haired rock/metal singers/bands. I really like guitarist-singers-songwriters. Reminds me of last year at school now, a huge nostalgia factor. Also some heavier music is not absent from my playlist, but depends on the mood.

What concerns books, I like F.Dostoevsky's style and realism of his characters. Also "To Kill a Mockingbird", "Clockwork Orange", "Survivor" and "Invisible Monsters". Also some Lithuanian books and my childhood books. And Stephen King is the King of horror. And the way he writes children in his books is a true marvel, especially when you think what genre it is.
Karel Čapek's "War With The Salamanders" - my unexpected treasure. Also "Girl with a Dragon Tattoo" series - devoured them.
However, after some (successful) attempts at it, I realised I cannot enjoy romance and boy-meets-girl-and-sparks-fly books. Just... no.

And films... way too many to discuss here.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So far it is exchange in Brazil and all the wonderful people I have met there. But I am sure more amazing things are yet to come.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have to think about this one... Lithuanian food? Ha. Well, you can always ask, I'm self-professed "queen of useless facts". Bits and pieces of knowledge and internet folklore that might never come in handy, but are fun. :)
