About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Urban-trek this grand life-size terrarium called the US; on the agenda presently are: Vancouver BC, Seattle, Portland, LA, San Diego (craft beer like a @$@#), Chicago, DC, Bodymo, Pittsburgh (!!), NYC, Boston, Montreal
ABOUT ME
(CAT ALERT: I've got a wicked bad* allergy to cats, so, sadly, I can't stay anywhere that has or has previously had a cat [including if couches have been in cat homes]. It's a total bummer but need to put that up front.)
* yes, I'm originally from Boston.
I've just come off the longest buckle-down time of my life (2 years) working in public policy around health insurance issues, and I'm taking the next few months to travel about and see all the grand cities which, to this point, have been not more than symbols and Wikipedia entries in my monkey brain. But that's about to change!
PHILOSOPHY
We can make people better off; so let's get off our asses and do it.
In terms of execution, cue GB Shaw:
"The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A recent addition to CS, but let me say that part of my impetus and enthusiasm for it was meeting some amazing Uruguayan folks in Buenos Aires who were both (1) awesome enough to coerce me into coming to Montevideo and (2) kind enough to put me up while there.
That experience convinced me that staying with denizens of a locale was - bar none - the best way to maximize time in a new place. Y Por eso, aqui estoy!
(Collateral damage is that I haven't shut up about Montevideo since; a fact my friend Cate laments to no end. Ask me about the chivito uruguayo. Lord god is that a ridiculous edifice of food.)
