About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Perfect greenhouse, cold frame and low-tunnel gardening. Finish my PhD. Brew some beers. Turn my house ever-more into a home. Slowly kindle friendships into kindred-spiritships. Embrace and create new experiences while living in one place (hint: you can help with that).
ABOUT ME
I am a wandering Lost Boy trying to make it in a grown-ups' world. I think too much, but I make up for it by laughing a lot too. As for the rest, talk to me over a cup of tea, coffee or beer. I'm always game for a beverage, a cozy or eclectic atmosphere and conversation.
My low response rate is because I lived for seven months in Fiji with an active CS account but without electricity or Internet access. Tradeoffs :)
PHILOSOPHY
1. Try your best, but always remember that the universe is just an accident and we're tiny little creatures on a tiny little rock floating aimlessly into space.
2. Laugh often, especially at yourself.
3. Enjoy everything in moderation, including moderation.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By hosting lovely people and trying my best to be lovely too. How else?
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've hosted a few people from various places and stayed in a few people's spots as well. My experiences have been without exception positive. I've met some simply smashing people with whom I hope to maintain contact for the rest of my life, and there's always room for more :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Spent a month on Tavewa Island, Fiji, fishing, making coconut oil, journaling, playing music and sharing kava with the locals. I will never see such indescribable beauty again.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach/Share: I am a middling guitar, piano, and banjolele player. I have a basic understanding of Korean, French and Spanish. I know how to make something resembling all of Indian, Mexican, Thai, and Korean foods. I do accents all the time and for no good reason. I'm learning about how to grow plants in general, and particularly starting seeds indoors and leveraging the greenhouse effect to extend the growing season in a cold/temperate climate.
Learn: I want to learn all the best out-of-the-way places to travel in other countries. Places you don't find on tourist maps. And I want to learn every language and hear every story. ESPECIALLY about home towns and backwater villages.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share what I know of various languages, stories of life in Fiji and South Korea, loads of philosophy about justice and quantum mechanics, and of course plenty of folk songs on my banjolele, Sam.
