À propos de moi
When I was eight and looking through National Geographic magazines, I decided that I wanted to see every place in the world. And not just see them, but experience them. But I knew that meant spending time in each place, and given that there were so many countries AND so many different area within each one, I decided that I would have to cut off a leg to mail it to every place that I wouldn't have time to get to before I die.
I haven't resorted to this quite yet. It still remains an option, though.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
I've been on Couchsurfing since the early days and loved hosting people from all over the world, wherever I was, and getting to help others see why I loved my home so much. Just as great was getting to stay with others when I travelled, again, to get an experience of what it's like to live in a city, not just the flashy tourist bits.
Through this site, I met folks that made my trips phenomenal. Plus, it's an absolute pleasure to host travellers and live vicariously through their excitement while they're with us. Ironically, overall I've stayed with more people met in non-CS ways, who turn out to be CS-ers already!
Centres d'intérêt
Travel, photography, sounds, food politics, culinary arts, learning languages, exploring new places, cobblestone roads, community radio, foreign films, being in transit, performances, art, drops of water in marshes, experimental music. Rekindling my old passion for devouring books.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
Survived a Night Of Hell in a foreign city without any sympathy, and remain friends with the person I shared that with to this day.
Hiked alone on the Spanish coast, spending a day and night on a completely secluded beach that felt like the edge of the world. Except for the mouse that ate my yoghurt.
Heard the most amazing drip of water falling into a boggy marsh near my house once that echoed everywhere. Each drip sounded like the most important thing in the universe. Entrancing.
Was lucky enough to visit Uluru & Kata Tjuda when they were dripping wet and in fog, with the bus crossing a spontaneous river in the desert to get there. And then there was the 5-hour trip back, serenaded by a non-stop lightening storm on the horizon. Incredible.

Eclectic music rocks my world. I like hearing about others' experiences. I've got BAs in pop culture/media/art studies that's helped frame my world ever since. Australia gave me an ongoing education in Indigenous affairs, simultaneously making me more aware of the reality in Canada.
