ABOUT ME

I grew up in a small town in Oklahoma--a fun childhood with cows, horses, and lots of traveling. I went to college in Indiana, but took a year off to study in Cyprus at Eastern Mediterranean University. That experience of learning a new language and meeting people from many different cultures solidified my passion for living abroad and shaped my future plans.

After graduating from university, I joined the Peace Corps and spent two years in Bulgaria where I worked in the village library, taught English/computers, and initiated small projects--such as starting a fitness center. I worked in China for the past year as an English teacher and am now traveling to Nicaragua to volunteer with Planting Hope. Everyday is an adventure with something new and interesting to discover!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participate by both surfing and hosting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couch surfing has been a wonderful experience! Some of my favorite moments have been hosting people and getting to translate between them and the local people who live in Gyovren, Bulgaria. Although Gyovren is close to tourist sites, not many tourists come to the village so there is a genuine hospitality and curiosity about foreigners that that makes these moments of cultural exchange incredibly special.
