About Me

I grew up in Virginia and recently moved to Dallas, Texas for work. I'm a pharmacist currently doing a residency specializing in geriatric pharmacy. I work at a Veterans Administration hospital and I get to serve the most amazing men and women! I love my work, but I love to have fun outside of work too! I'm a planner and I'm generally tidy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One of my favorite things is to do is travel. Unfortunately as a resident, I'm not able to afford travel as much as I would like. I'm looking to find gracious hosts to help with that barrier to travel for my inner wanderer. I also love meeting new people, hearing about their experiences, and sharing my own with them. I'm hoping to find people that are also looking to share.

Interests

I really enjoy seeing live music (all types). I've seen artists ranging from Delta Rae to Ludacris to Buddhist monk throat singers. All of which were amazing! I also love exploring what my neighborhood and city has to offer. In my down time I'm always listening to podcasts that are informative or tell interesting stories about human nature. I love discussing what makes people tick. I'm always up for an introspective conversation :)

Music, Movies, and Books

My absolute favorite book is called the Beekeeper's Apprentice by Laurie R. King. It's about Sherlock Holmes in his older years, meeting a young woman with similar talents for observation. He takes her under his wing and I loved every page. I'm currently reading Being Mortal by Atul Gawande and A Dance with Dragons (I read the book before watching the Game of Thrones show). And I'm always rereading the Harry Potter series.

As far as music, my taste vary all of the place. Right now I'm switching between Lupe Fiasco and Ed Sheeran on youtube.

When it comes to movies/tv, I don't pay for cable. I mooch off a Netflix account. Right now I'm binge watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I also love a good Drunk History telling on youtube :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One time I ran a Ragnar Relay which is a 200 mile relay race completed in 48 hours. My team and I ran from Miami to Key West. I found myself running through the Everglades at midnight, flashlight strapped to my head, alligators on either side of the trail. Somehow I survived :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always interested in learning new things. There's so much I don't know how to do! I'd love to learn another language, learn how to play the guitar (or any instrument).

If anyone is interested in pharmacy, I can share my experience in that. If anyone is interested in practicing their German or English, I am always game!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to share my positive attitude and smile with everyone :)
