About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Wrap my Arms Around the World.

ABOUT ME

I am a compulsive perfectionist who lives in a constant state of chaos. I am the only child of two aging hippies, and once lived in a teepee for like, 6 months. I laugh far too easily, but I like serious, poignant movies best. I think language is sexy.

I spend most of my Monday-Friday either at my job or at the dance studio, but weekends are for adventures.

PHILOSOPHY

We do not inherit the earth from our fathers. We borrow it from our children.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Meeting amazing people! Learning things.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't *actually* surfed or hosted yet, but spent most of my time in Argentina kicking it with couch surfers. Pretty legit community!

Interests

Interrogating ideas, problematizing everything, dancing - all kinds, laughing far too easily, filmmaking, photography, Foucault, Neruda, Arundhati Roy, empowerment (and figuring out what that means), sustainability, joy, coffee, great beer.

Music, Movies, and Books

An incomplete list, in no particular order:
[Books] Oryx and Crake, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Love in the Time of Venus, Snow Falling on Cedars, We Were the Mulvaneys, The Peacock Throne, Sacred Games, Discipline and Punish, Middlesex, Lolita, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The English Patient, Anil's Ghost, (Michael Ondaatje writes so exquisitely that I want to wear his prose like a beautiful, delicate dress) The Golden Compass, A Lexicon of Terror, Regarding the Pain of Others, Sacred Games, The Godfather of Kathmandu, El Túnel, Pablo Neruda, Octavio Paz, Margaret Atwood. Rumi. Oh god, I really love Rumi.

CURRENTLY READING --> Brave New World, Life and Words (yessssss Veena Das), Los Cuadernos de Don Rigoberto.

[Movies] El Secreto de Sus Ojos, Sin Nombre; Children of Men, Pan's Labyrinth, Snatch, Fight Club, City of God, Chinatown, Amelie.

[Music] Very nearly everything. I know, that's so cliche...blah blah blah. BUT! It's true. I love discovering new music, and I tend to like, you know "indie shit." But I also love Philip Glass, dominican rap, folk music, drake, and other decidedly not edgy or indie stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Night on the Ganga River in Varanasi...dark water filled with hundreds of tiny candles, and funeral pyres burning on the shore.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bangladesh, Dominican Republic, India, Mexico, Peru

Countries I’ve Lived In

Argentina, United States
