About Me

I am a contemporary and fine art photographer. Currently I am at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro pursuing a BFA in photography. I am a curator and direct a non-profit organization for promoting participation in fine art photography.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I hope to explore. I love the idea of exploring another place from the perspective of someone who lives there rather than simply as a tourist. Couchsurfing provides opportunities to interact rather than to wall oneself away in a sterile hotel room.

Locals are always more interesting than tour guides and travel agencies. Real people can enrich your experience of traveling. Not only can you explore a new places and learn new languages, you can expand your mind to new ideas and make new friends.

Interests

Photography. I love making interesting, creative images with my camera that are unlike typical photographs. My photography explores themes of inner life, secret worlds, self-discovery and juxtaposition. Besides making art, I am passionate about language; I love learning new languages.

In high school I went to France for a summer homestay for one month in 1990. At university I studied Spanish (although my Spanish never felt as natural as my French).

For around five years I was a sign language interpreter. Just recently, I started learning a little Italian in anticipation of my upcoming trip.

I also am very interested in science and reason. I am a free-thinker who enjoys passionate pursuit of interesting and exciting ideas.

I love good food, good films and good friends!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For the past two years (2016 & 2017), I've traveled alone through Europe for two and a half months each summer.

Teach, Learn, Share

My love of language. I love helping people improve their English while I learn their languages.

As a photographer, I enjoy helping people think differently about their own image making.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you how to curse in sign language.

I hope to share an open mind and heart. I would love the opportunity to photograph my hosts which I would, of course, share with them. I love to talk and explore ideas. I may even know a joke or two. ;-)

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Netherlands, Puerto Rico, Spain, United Kingdom, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
