About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Get the most out of everyday life. After all, the big planned things in life don't take all of my time.

ABOUT ME

Greetings. Thank you for viewing my profile.

Andrew and I live on New Zealand's Coromandel Peninsula. Our story is told in our website: AndrewAndDave.com

We each decided a few years ago that we would like to do some traveling, to see more of this wide world in which we live. In the middle of all that, we met, fell in love, and married. Now we are exploring a bit of the world together. It is much more fun sharing these experiences with him.

I am not an "average American", as you can tell from my old website, whstler.com. I live a slower life, enjoying the simple things, rather than working and working to make money. I am a thoughtful, considerate and caring person and very loyal to my friends.

PHILOSOPHY

Stop and smell the roses. (Enjoy the simple things in life day by day, rather than working hard at a career all your life in order to enjoy some free time "someday".)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

My favorite part of CS'ing is the cultural exchange, hearing about life from others' perspective, as well as seeing things that most travelers do not, more than just the regular touristy things. It'll be great to have more people stay with me, as well.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We very much enjoy seeing the town or city through the host's own eyes, hearing the stories of their area and of their lives. We also enjoy sharing like that with those who surf our couch, as well.

It amazes me how very different travel is when one has a local connection, rather than simply seeing the places that are most touristy.

Interests

the simple things in life. I also enjoy helping others, which is how and why I got into my business of fixing people's computers in their homes and teaching them how to use them. I very much enjoy photography, and all my friends tell me I take far too many pictures (for example: 4,497 photos during 19 days in Australia in June 2013).

Music, Movies, and Books

science fiction and fantasy books.
science fiction and fantasy movies, and love stories that have a happy ending.
"new country" music and Christian music that sounds like 1970's rock.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

While cruising in my bus up the Continental Divide in Colorado, I was pulled over by five state patrol cars which fully blocked the highway to stop all traffic. They had thought I was a bank robber, since a similarly colored bus had recently been used in heists in another state.

Another time a friend and I led a group of ten boys aged 8 to 12 across the Sierra Nevada in nine days, surviving a freak summer snow storm which dumped half a foot of snow on us in August! The kids loved it, as did my friend and I.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can remove bad stuff from your computer to keep it running better, and while I do that, I can show you how to do it yourself next time. I am told that my outlook on life is enjoyable, but I am not sure I can teach you how to do that. I've been told, though, that it is infectious.
