About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel as much of the globe as possible, soaking up as many different cultures as possible, making tons of friends; teaching English and writing as I go.

ABOUT ME

Hmmm, where to begin? I'm a thirty something Irish girl with incredibly itchy feet.(as in 'I love to travel' not 'I have athlete's foot!')
I teach English as a foreign language, which is a job I am passionate about, in part because it facilitates travel. I make tea, not war. I'm a pretty good cook so any future hosts can look forward to a delicious meal or three as a thank you.
I am deeply fascinated by languages and cultures - which is why I love travel - I'm a nosy so and so who wants to find out as much as possible about this planet we call home.

PHILOSOPHY

Cakes for All!

Make tea not war.

A life lived in fear is a life half lived.

Interests

I love hiking, comedy, handcrafts, singing, good food and good conversation. I'm a sucker for a good pub quiz!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have eclectic tastes in music - and I really mean that! If you hit shuffle on my iPod you could get anything from Baroque classical to obscure Irish band to Christian rock and french electro pop. But to list just a few of my favourites:
The Flaming Lips, BellX1, Brad Pitt Light Orchestra, J.S Bach, Burt Bacharach, Fallout Boy and The Divine Comedy.

Movies: I love most genres, comedy, rom-com, thriller etc. I'm a huge Bollywood fan and look forward to the day I arrive in Mumbai and can tour the studios.
Some of my favourite moves are: The LOTR trilogy, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Tampopo, The Princess Bride, Withnail & I, and StarWars, 4,5 &6.

I am a TOTAL bookworm and positively look forward to a 10 hour bus ride from Sydney to Melbourne as it is guilt free reading time! I read historical fiction, fantasy, romance, thrillers, biographies, the back of cereal boxes......
My favourite authors are Robert Jordan, Jane Austen, J.R.R Tolkien, Georgette Heyer, Ellis Peters, Agatha Christie, Terry Pratchett and P.G Wodehouse. I could go on all day but let's save that for face to face conversations, shall we?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing which I have done so far was back in October 2008 when I hiked 471km of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in northern spain. The very first day we hiked 27 kilometres up and over the Pyrennees from France into Spain.
Best five weeks of my life!
