About Me

Hej, my name's Valentin and I find it hard to describe myself in a few lines. I'm a normal guy who is unique in his own way. Pretty much as everybody else.
I try to enjoy small things as well as not to lose the bigger perspective which relativates bad things.
I try not to take everything too seriously although I try to concentrate on what I'm doing.. on the other hand, quite often, I think about whatever while doing something else.
Overall I'm an easygoing, uncomplicated guy and it's not hard to get along with me. On the other hand I like to discuss honestly and profoundly. I like knowledge and I think that various interests can enrich your life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like to travel to see new and different places and people.
When I'm new somewhere couchsurfing is a great way to meet people and socialise. I've met lots of interesting characters that way.
I use couchsurfing mainly to meet open-minded people wherever I come. I love the way couchsurfing creates an international community. That's good, nice beeing a part of this.

Interests

I love to get in contact with different mentalities and cultures and to explore new places and I like to have fun with my friends. I like to go swimming, cycling and I really love sauning . I'm interested in movies, books, history and occasionally in fine arts and natural sciences.
I hold an MA in International Law and International Relations, in my BA I studied Islam studies too, I'd count that to my interests.
Ah, of course, I like learning languages.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like punk-type rockmusic but I'm open minded and as longs as it's good music, I like all sorts of sound. I like to read, especially when I don't have to. In general I like honest books which tell me something new I haven't seen before.
I like good movies of all types.

If you want an example, I liked l'Etranger (Camus), the best book I can think of right now, Huis Clos was also good. Also I like The Parfume of Suesskind, every single drama of Brecht, in general the good old German, English or French literature . Graham Green pops into my mind, but it's hard to make a list.

Films.. like most people today I must have seen a few hundred films already
I generally enjoy Quentin Tarentino the Cohen Brothers or Wes Anderson, like so many. I also find Kevin Smith films very entertaining.
My favourite show is (or maybe was) Southpark.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Small, everyday things.
When you know how little it takes to be satisfied.

(Also I climbed a palm tree on a liana in panama, cut down a coconut and opened it with my machete. That was pretty good.)

Teach, Learn, Share

We can share some good times together.

I don't think that I have a special talent but I have a good general knowledge and I can fix a few things too. It depends, we'll see.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My enthusiasm for honest profound discussions as for simple fun.

Countries I’ve Lived In

England, France, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Togo, Tunisia
