Overview
About Me
Originally I am from Germany, and have lived in Australia for over 14 years. At some point I realised that the life I had created for myself wasn't quite what I had expected life to be. There is a life beyond work, and chasing a career or working around the clock was never going to get me there, while cutting back on lifestyle and living a much simpler life with plenty of time probably would. So here I am, "testing" the digital nomad lifestyle I have been dreaming of for so many years. In March 2019 I cleaned out home and life by giving nearly everything away, and embarked on a new journey of extended global travel, while building my business online.
I enjoy good and meaningful conversations about anything from business and finance to consciousness, religion, politics (yes, the big no no conversation topics are my favourites :-) ), a good glass of red vino, sampling local cuisine - including some of the less usual foods, the great outdoors, learning and challenging myself, expanding my thinking, and pretty much anything that keeps mind, body and spirit healthy. Personal and spiritual growth is one of my highest values. Traveling, meeting new people, living and working with them, immersing myself in other countries and cultures is one of the most intense and rewarding ways I have found so far to foster most of these interests.
I love to hang out with people who take ownership of themselves, their lives and circumstances, who don't take things personal, accept things, events and people for what and who they are.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have been an Airbnb host for about 5 years and enjoyed many of the interactions and people I met during that time. I also used it extensively to travel and while it is generally very enjoyable and sometimes unique, I have unfortunately found that often people just turn every corner nook and cranny into a rent generating opportunity, which means that they are often completely lacking the “host at home” atmosphere that is so enjoyable and that provides so many insights into people’s lives and cultures.
I am not hosting people at the moment because I am traveling :-)

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to most music as long as there is a clear melody - which means no heavy metal and only limited jazz. Favourites really change depending on mood, and live music nearly always draws me in.
Favourite movies are those that leave me thinking, Limitless, Lucy, Memento..., and ones that portray characters with special talents and greatness, A Beautiful Mind, The Theory of Everything, Race, Darkest Hour...
The last few years I have hardly ever read books, but love listening to audios - Audible is one of my favourite aps. Man's Search for Meaning, Three Magic Words, Sh*t the Moon Said, Stealing Fire, anything from Brene Brown, Dr David Hawkins...
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Life in general is pretty amazing but I guess the biggest thing is starting to tick things off my bucket list - visit Angkor Wat, hiking a volcano, travel the world...
Teach, Learn, Share
I can help people with English, German, finances & investing, entrepreneurship/business.
Keen to learn and practise Spanish - I am a beginner.
I love to try new things, so always up for interesting suggestions and activities.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am quite practical, so always happy to lend a helping hand where needed. Other than that good company, travel buddy, conversations, ideas, plenty of learnings from real life experiences, and often a different perspective on things (going down rabbit holes is optional :-) )
