About Me

CURRENT MISSION

it's all about connecting and creating something together!

ABOUT ME

I'm a really laid-back person. I'm not one to talk about nothing, it's either slighty philosophical, or really silly. Of course I do have normal conversations as well, but I like the previous two kinds the best. Love to work on projects with a well-oiled team, love to walk and cycle and do ceramics! love to meet people get inspired by movies and books. Not enough time in a day!

PHILOSOPHY
The point is to try to make a real connection to other people, and to try to spread some good feeling. That people are kind, that there is hope, that strangers can meet and have a great time, that we are all connected across the whole globe. And all that while trying not to be too much of a stereotype hippie (which I'm not! truly!)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Until now I've been a 'surfer'. Would like to be a host, but ironically, being very busy, right now I really love those spare evenings when I'm alone.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Slept at 4 couches so far. The couch I liked best was the one where a friend of mine and I arrived, and this guy had actually cooked for us! His friend was there too, and we just stayed at the kitchen table talking and talking and laughing for hours :)

Interests

social entrepreneurship, sustainability, the meaning of life, (social) justice, and then the regular "people, music, walking, cycling and swimming". Drawing a bit, working on my ceramics projects or designing my tiny house, writing and translating also. I love languages a lot, especially the way they're interconnected. As said before: not enough time in a day!

Music, Movies, and Books

*Movies: Så som i himmelen; absolute favorite. La Meglio Gioventù; second absolute favorite. Synecdoche, New York; third absolute favorite (and so forth and so forth)
*Music: Bonobo, Alexi Murdoch, Doe Maar (Dutch band), Explosions in the Sky, Foo Fighters, a little bit of everything!
*Books: The Discovery of Heaven (Harry Mulisch), Carlos Zafon Ruiz, Henning Mankell, Arthur Japin, Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter! (a remainder of my youth) etc etc

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Starting a Brand Communication business with a lovely korean lady while having no background in branding or the design field whatsoever. (And more practically speaking: I hitch-hiked from Latvia to the Netherlands together with a friend, that was cool as well!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I know some things about hosting and facilitating these days (like, if you would give workshops). I have experience with visual harvesting, know some NVC (Non Violent Comunication), know some business tools, can tell you some things about sustainability and mostly about the interconnected processes of ecological and I guess also political systems. Mostly I feel I know nothing and I can learn a lot from others :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Laughs or - if preferred - leaving each other be.
Some real interest in you and your life.
Stories about branding and building projects and a knowmadic lifestyle.
