ABOUT ME

I'm a graduate student studying/researching toward a doctorate in Neuroscience. My first passion was acting, but after a short time at university I was drawn in by curiosity to learning about one of the most poorly understood but fascinating pieces of biology that makes us who we are.

I was born and raised in the United States, and grew up on a roller coaster of life, going from living in a large lake-side house with a view of the mountains to being crammed into a 2-bedroom apartment with 5 family members.

I am also half Polish by birth and spent a year living there on a tiny family farm, stacking firewood and shoveling sheep dung, while living alongside former alcoholics, drug abusers and mentally handicapped individuals who came there to work in exchange for a bed and good food. It was perhaps the most stress-free year of my life.

Now I'm soaking up Scandinavian culture in this corner of the earth called Denmark. And I couldn't be happier. Darkness, wind, rain and cold don't seem to be enough to make me stop finding ways to soak up the richness of life that exists here.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I helped host/entertain guests for a couple years with my former roommate Andrew Kottick (see friends). As a result of the good experiences/people met and the positive stories he related about his own travels, I decided to open my own account while living abroad in Europe.

Interests

I love to travel and play or watch live music. I have a passion for running and enjoy spending 1-2+ hours cruising along trails, fields, beaches or back roads by myself, completely disconnected from the world. I also enjoy good films, but when given the option I'll take going out to find a new experience or adventure over anything. I'm also sucker for nerdy conversation (comes with the territory I suppose)--technology, space, biology, physics...I can't get enough!

And lastly, I love making photography a part of my travels and experiences. So long as it doesn't detract from actually living them! To me it's the best way to create a trail of memories to look back on and I take joy in crafting the light.
