Overview
About Me
For more than a decade I'm living in The Hague, 3rd largest city in The Netherlands. I have my own nice apartment. Originally I grew up in Leiden. A nice small city not far away. Before 2017 I used to work as a backend webdeveloper. Building websites and webapplications. Connecting different systems with each other to make interaction possible. It's all bits and bytes there.
2017 Was my so called gap-year. I resigned from my job, packed a backpack and traveled for 7 months mainly around south-east Asia. It was an awesome, unforgettable time. I've been to so many places, took so many pictures, met so many people and gained so many stories. O yes, I did couchsurfing a few times. But mainly I stayed in hostels. End of 2017 I finished my trip and flew back to The Netherlands.
At the start of 2018 I got a new job. This time I do app development. Yes, those apps you have on your smartphone.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm mainly here as a host rather than a surfer myself. I do enjoy meeting new people from all over the world and share stories about travel experiences. And in the meantime be a social alternative for a hostel.
While I was traveling around SE-Asia I also did stay with couch hosts a few times. I did love to get an insight in the local culture and to experience how locals live. I can imagine the same counts for other travelers as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
So many things pops up in my mind if I think about my backpack trip: Get lost in Old Quarter of Hanoi, do a hike in SaPa and get totally burned, do a boat ride in Tam Coc, experience Songkran in Bangkok, See a light show in Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, book a 5 star hotel when you want to pleasure yourself, stay in a very cheap but not clean guesthouse in Hpa-an, take a train from Mandalay to Hsipaw, to a multi-day bike tour in Thakhek, take a nightbus from Da Nang to Pakse (21 hours!), got invited last minute for a Balinese wedding in Bali while I'm in Kuala Lumpur and then just go right away,
Go on a weekend trip to Tokyo. AMS-HND for effectively 3 days. It's crazy!, but fun experience.
Floating in a canoe on the Iwahig river on a dark warm eve. Slowly passing the mangroove trees with thousands of fireflies in them, looking up to the clear sky and see some of the constellations. The only thing you hear is the paddle in the water. How amazing!
Oops....this is more than one Amazing Thing.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m here to meet people from all over the world. Most of the time I host and welcome travelers seeking for a couch experience. Having a nice conversation, laugh, cook, eat are big shareable options. When I have time and you like some company I can show you around The Hague
If you stay at mine I will share my apartment with you. My couch will be your bed.
In case you host me I will bring something in my backpack to share with you.
