ABOUT ME

I'm Em. It's lovely to meet you :-)

I'm deceptively quiet, which people tend to confuse as shyness, at least until I've had a drink (or two or three)... I'm also very easygoing and open minded and, I've been told, easy to talk to. I get on with almost everyone and genuinely love to meet new people, especially if they share some of my interests.

PHILOSOPHY

Carpe diem: you never know what will happen tomorrow so you should make each day count. I'm a classical liberalist and a liberal atheist.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I cannot host for a few years as I am still living with my parents, but I hope to give back to this project as soon as possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My boyfriend Alex and I went on a short trip around Europe, staying with couchsurfers in Amsterdam and Munich. The people we met were great and we had a fantastic time!

Interests

My friends mean the world to me and therefore most of my time is spent with them and my boyfriend, who is far too good to me.

I try to have a good time wherever, whenever. I smoke and drink socially and always enjoy a good coffee/beer/whisky, probably too much to be considered healthy...

I am also a very creative person. I read and write whenever I can keep focused and appreciate art, theatre and music of many varieties.

Music especially plays a big part in my life. It has seen me through some difficult times and most of my money is spent on going to gigs and on band merchandise. I also play keyboard and guitar, although I have never had lessons and would love to improve.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite bands are Megadeth, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden and Dream Theater. However, I have very varied music tastes, and enjoy anything from The Abominable Iron Sloth to ZZ Top.

I love watching movies, expecially if they're memorable and a bit different, like This is Spinal Tap and Pulp Fiction. I also have room in my heart for the comic genius of Monty Python and Arnold Schwarzenneger.

I also read a lot, but my favourite authors are Hunter S. Thompson, Jack Kerouac and Chuck Palahniuk.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm more of a listener than a teacher, but I'd love to share my somewhat limited knowledge of music, literature, random facts and how to make a damn good cheesecake.

I would love to learn as much as possible about all aspects of life in the cities I visit. I would be extremely grateful for any knowledge about playing live music.
