I started in 2015, I hosted people in Galway a number of times (unfortunately the building I now live in does not allow hosting). When I was travelling and got completely stuck without a flight to leave Italy, I couchsurfed all the way to Vienna and had an amazing time doing that. It completely saved my trip from being a disaster!

It's really great to meet so many different people who you would normally never have the opportunity to meet - and learn about the diverse ways you think, the experiences that have made you who you are, and how you perceive the world, society, and other cultures!

I read widely and watch a lot of films at festivals to keep up with my career. In both my personal and professional life languages are key, being able to converse and share experiences with people from around the world. I speak Spanish and Catalan aside from my native English. Academically I have been mostly interested in history and culture. I studied diverse topics in history, anything from Aztec warfare to the Spanish Second Republic. When traveling the first thing I want to find is a good museum!

I like reading and have a bookcase full of books that have inspired me. My favourite novel is "Cry the Beloved Country" by Alan Paton, which deals with the topic of apartheid in South Africa. My favourite poet is Seamus Heaney. My favourite essayist is George Orwell. My favourite author overall is Kurt Vonnegut, because of his ability to tell a great story that can bring together deep and meaningful observations with a lot of comedy and brilliant imagination.

I am very interested in comedy, whether it be TV, stand-up, books, magazines, movies or improv. I follow my favourite comedians' podcasts, read lots about the episodes online, because I really enjoy hearing about all the different collaborations that are going on, and find out what is coming up soon.
