About Me
One year ago, I left an environmental consulting job in Boston to go teach English in Thailand for a year. When I finished my teaching contract, I traveled around southeast Asia for a few months, and I just arrived in New Zealand on a work holiday visa. I'm currently applying for jobs in Auckland and beyond, with the aim of staying in New Zealand for 3-4 months.
I can cook a mean stir fry and rice and beans. If you've got oil and spices, I'm totally willing to buy some groceries and cook for/with my host. I'm not the most creative in the kitchen, but it's always edible :)
One of my passions is theater, and I even started a small theater company in Boston. I was also part of an improv comedy group called MASH. I've been trying to practice meditation and yoga on a regular basis (for exercise and a calmer mind).
I'm currently applying for master's programs in Statistics, and studying for an exam to apply to graduate school (the GRE), which I'm taking on December 6th. So between the grad school applications, studying for the exam, applying for jobs in New Zealand, and doing a bit of remote work for my old consulting job, I'm a pretty busy fellow. Hopefully most of this will all be sorted by mid-December and I'll finally be able to pry my eyes away from my computer screen. All that to say, I won't be able to spend most of the day traveling around town, even if I really want to. But I can definitely have good conversation over meals.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to a lot of chill indie and electronic music, and I love the BBC Essential Mix.
Podcasts are one of my favorite things. Some of my favorites are: This American Life, 99% Invisible, Levar Burton Reads, Serial, and Limetown.
I read lots of books on self-help and productivity, but I'm trying to start reading some fiction too :). I'm currently in the middle of Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. I also enjoy reading classics, and want to read more plays.
