Overview
About Me
I live on a farm in the North East of England. My local city is the beautiful city of Durham where I went to school. I studied for 3 years at University in Leeds and played a lot of hockey. I've been fortunate enough to see some pretty cool places. When I was 17 I visited Kenya and Tanzania and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. I did my first solo trip through Europe when I was 20. I spent two months in South East Asia at the end of 2016, I cycled some of The Netherlands in July 2017 and in October I went to Poland before Nepal, then India and now Japan!
I believe I am very outgoing, friendly and I'm a true optimist. I love meeting people so I've decided to give couch surfing a go!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love travelling and I'm eager to get a more authentic experience by meeting people who live at the places I travel to. I also really enjoy a good chat as well as meeting new people.
Interests
I'm a hockey goalkeeper, I've recently started climbing, I play table tennis and the piano and go to the gym quite regularly. I am a qualified practical day skipper and have delivered a yacht through the Mediterranean Sea as part of a crew. Finally, I'm an animal lover.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like all sorts of music; Bon Iver, Vance Joy, Of Monsters and Men, King Charles, The Lumineers, Hozier, Boy and Bear - that sort of vibe...
But then to mix it up, I'm partial to a bit of tropical house and when I was 14 I discovered Eminem and used to think I was cool rapping When I'm Gone in my bedroom.
Movies - I love American Beauty and I really like Interstellar and Inception. Not a movie but I also really like Game of Thrones.
Books - I love reading and try to read as much as possible when travelling, I think it’s highly beneficial. On this trip I’ve read a few non-fiction books from technology addiction to personal finance to historic.
When I read fiction I like fantasy; Harry Potter, Name of the Wind and ‘The First Law Trilogy’.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In May 2016 I ran 5 marathons in 5 days and raised £14,000 for charity!
Teach, Learn, Share
I've tried all sorts of fun activities but I can play the piano and read sheet music so I suppose I could help someone with that.
I'm very sporty and my calling is as a field hockey goalkeeper, so if you want any tips with that I'm your man.
I completed a 10 day Vipassana meditation silent retreat in December 2017 in India. Although I’m definitely no expert if you’re interested I could definitely pass on abit of what I learnt.
What I Can Share with Hosts
In April 2018 I completed a course in Swedish Body Massage. It’s a thoroughly relaxing technique and I would be happy to massage if you would so wish! I am currently carrying some oils with me and will not turn down the opportunity to practise!
If you do have a piano I could play some classical pieces!
