About Me
Hi, I'm Will. Nice to meet you! In March 2016 I sold everything I owned and set off on an around-the-world backpacking adventure that I've been dreaming of for 12 years! I'm starting in South America, and working my way west through Aus/NZ, Japan, China, Southeast Asia... and on, probably for at least 2 years.
Before that, I worked in marketing as a project manager and consultant. I've also been a house and techno DJ, music producer, and event promoter for 16 years. You can hear my music on my Soundcloud page at the link below.
I've also got a relatively new blog, which showcases my love for photography as well. Check it out at:
If/when I return to San Francisco I plan to go back to school to get my master's degree in psychology at the California Institute for Integral Studies, founded by the Zen philosopher Alan Watts. Self-work, psychology, and spirituality are some of my most passionate interests, and I'm happy to talk at length about them anytime.
And I will always be a DJ. :)
Thanks for reading. I look forward to meeting you. Here's some music in the meantime:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After traveling for a bit, realized that staying in hostels is a great way to get stuck in the "backpacker bubble", visiting the same sites that all travelers visit, and being around foreigners who aren't fully immersed in the culture. Nothing wrong with that, and it can be quite social and fun!
But I'm looking for something a bit deeper, with more insight into the countries I'm visiting and their cultures.
I've heard many good things about Couchsurfing.com, and the great, in-depth experiences hosts can provide. That's what I'm looking for. Help me understand your country, to see it through your eyes, good and bad.
And maybe I can help explain some things about America, too. :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The amount of work required for me to realize this dream of backpacking around the world is one of the biggest achievements of my life. That process in itself, to liberate myself from the decisions I made and realize my dream, is literally amazing. Even to me. I can't believe I did it, and I'm so glad I did.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you all about dance music and the art of DJ'ing. I can explain different genres, and why they work the way they do. I can explain to you the heart and soul of DJ'ing, why we do what we do, and what it is we're actually doing when we're at our best, and why in the whole universe of music, it's its own particular form of magic.
I'd like to learn how to cook. Teach me about your local spices and how to use them, and about the traditional dishes you and your family and friends love to eat. (I'll eat anything except pineapple. :)
And I'd like to share with you the experience of being two humans on spaceship earth, where the things we have in common are greater in number than the things that are different. To me that is the soul of traveling.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Dream interpretation is one of my longtime hobbies. 15 years, in fact.
Tell me about a dream you've had, as much as you can remember, and I just might be able to help you interpret its specific meaning for you. For real. :)
