I was born and raised in Menasha, a small town in Wisconsin, a medium-sized state in the American Midwest. In middle school, I lived abroad for two years, attending an international school in Doha, Qatar, and I then promptly returned to my hometown.

Throughout middle school and high school, I experimented with and cultivated a variety of interests and passions, but the two most prominent and lasting are certainly music and theatre. I play classical and jazz saxophone, and do some dabbling in piano and vocals, as well. I've written some music of my own, and aspire to improve my songwriting ability throughout my life. I've been involved in a wide range of theatrical productions, including plays, musicals, and experimental shows.

I was admitted to my dream college, Yale University, in December of my senior year of high school, and later decided to take a gap year before matriculation, moving to Malta with my parents. I'm spending parts of the year relaxing, traveling, roadtripping, hiking, and working.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm always looking to meet new people with backgrounds, culture, and perspectives that differ from my own, and I'm more than happy to share my own opinions and experiences. I believe that worldliness and wisdom are inextricably linked, and that a greater understanding of the world around you contributes to a greater understanding of yourself.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite musical artist is Billy Joel, but I also listen to a wide variety of music within jazz, hip-hop, classic rock, musical theatre, and other genres. I am always looking for new listening suggestions.

I absolutely love horror movies, and I'll watch any of them, even the bad ones. A few of my favorites include 'Hush', 'The Shining', 'The Blair Witch Project', 'Paranormal Activity', and 'Scream'. I'm also into good movies of any other genre.

My favorite author is Stephen King, with my favorites including 'It', 'The Shining', and 'The Stand'. Some of my other favorites are 'The Catcher in the Rye', '1984', and 'Atonement'.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In June of 2017, serving as a final goodbye to my high school theatre program, my friends and I put on a full 24-hour experimental production. It was the most exhausting experience of my life, but one of the most gratifying. I'll be happy to explain the full story if we meet in person, but I just can't fit it all here.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd be happy to teach you the basics of saxophone, should you happen to have one laying around. I could also provide rudimentary instruction in musical and jazz theory. I'm well-versed in use of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere, and I would be grateful for the opportunity to pass on my knowledge. Finally, if you or your kids need any help with editing English essays, reports, or college applications, I would be glad to lend my support.

I'm willing to learn anything you're willing to teach me, and I'd especially benefit from a few cooking lessons, but I'm perfectly content hearing about your life and experiences.
