About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"The proper function of man is to live, not to exist. I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time." - Jack London
ABOUT ME
I have a few favorite activities:
Trail running. I've been a hiker for most of my life. Running expands my rat GE, while carrying less gear. Win! Also, I like shortcuts, especially the ones that take longer, and are far more interesting.
I'm a pretty avid cyclist. I've not ventured too far from home yet, but am a regular commuter and contributor to the local cycling community.
Climbing and bouldering are two things that bring me a lot of pleasure. I clearly remember when I started climbing, and my life has been better ever since.
Books. Yes.
Movies. Yes, preferably with good acting, a plot, and a storyline.
Music. Yes, but it must have a soul. Soulless music has no place in my life.
PHILOSOPHY
It used to be "work smarter, not harder", and I believed it. But hard work is good for you. I actually like working hard, using my body the way it was meant to be. Not in front of a computer, or behind a counter.
"Life is for living, not working" is a nice idea too, but perhaps the key is finding balance between the two.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am really open to sharing what I have, and I like meeting interesting people, so sharing my abode is win-win. I've been routinely inspired by couchsurfing, and the surfers who have rolled on through. I hope to continue to host surfers when I'm around and do some more surfing on my own in the near and not-so near future.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So great! I've been so inspired by the hosts and surfers I've had. It's a beautiful thing. As I get older, I recognize the value of community. CS is such a shining example of community, and it's bringing people from all over the world together!
In my travels, I always dreamed of being able to meet and spend time with locals. CS makes that dream a reality.
Interests
Running, in the woods, adventuring, hiking, biking, swimming in rivers and lakes, disc golf, road tripping, doing nothing, cooking, reading, watching good movies, pretending to make art, and doing it all to the sound of music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
wow...
I slept under the stars on the full moon in a place called Castle Hill in New Zealand. They filmed the fight scene in the movie 'Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe' there, and it's one of the most magical places I've ever been to on earth.
Being there on the full moon just made it become all the more amazing.
