About Me

*** We are based in the town of Brukunga, in the Adelaide Hills, about 40 minute drive from Adelaide city. You’ll need a car :) worst case we could pick you up from the Mt Barker bus terminal.

Hello everyone, Will and Margaux here. I'm Australian, from Adelaide and Margaux is French, from Rennes. We are both keen travellers and couch surfers 😊

I'm a pretty easy going guy, like meeting new people and I like to be social, I think travelling is a great way to learn about the world and others lifestyles. I'm always keen for an adventure or activity, especially like hiking and camping! Big sports fan as well, I play a bit of cricket, like watching Aussie rules footy, am trying to get into running and cycling, generally like most sports. I'm a keen reader too, nothing better than a good book. I have become a craft beer/brewery lover in my 30's and I’ve even started brewing my own beers at home, which I enjoy, but you'll have to be the judge of if thay are any good :)

Margaux loves sewing and crafting, she likes making garments from re-purposed fabrics. Margaux is also a keen gardener, spending a lot of time on the veggie garden and really enjoys being active and in nature. Also, a bit of a hula hooper and circus enthusiast.

Most of all we both love to spend time with our cat, Princess! We adopted Princess when she was already 9 or 10 years old from a shelter and we are focused on just giving her and our 3 pet chickens (Treguier, Pom-Pom and Chickira) their best lives :)

Lastly, we are van life enthusiasts! We spent 2 years in Canada living in 2 separate vans (Beetroot and then Coco. Got to name your vans guys 🤣). We now have a van here in Adelaide (VANessa) and are really trying to enjoy exploring my home state of South Australia in our van. We plan to spend 12 ish months and do a lap of Australia eventually, whenever that may be! Basically, if you're a van lifer, we are happy to hear from you too :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I think it's a good way to meet locals and get an experience of a new place, as well as making friends and learning about different cultures. As a host it's a great way to bring travelling to me, when I can't travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It has been great! Margaux, my wife and I actually met through Couchsurfing, she stayed on my couch and the rest is history, as the saying goes :)

Couch surfing is a fantastic community and I've made some lifelong friends! Such a great way to travel, share cultures and experience the world.

Interests

Like sports, meeting people, travel, having a laugh and trying new things. Anything which could get me out of my comfort zone or a bit of adventure!

Music, Movies, and Books

Not a huge music fan to be honest, but I do like singing along in the car like an idiot! I am a Vancejoy fan though!

I love to read! I'm a big Michael Connelly, Ian Rankin, Stephen Leather and Lee Child fan. Have got into fantasy lately, in particular Robin Hobb and Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time Series! Just any book in general, as you can probably tell!

Movie wise, I usually like serious movies, The Banshee of Inisherin is a recent favourite.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived the van life in Canada for 2 years, as we crossed the country. Was such a glorious experience. Great to travel at your own pace and explore.

We've recently bought a van here in Australia now, so far seen a bit of South Australia and looking forward to doing a bit lap of the rest of the country. Van life has really captured our imaginations :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm slowly learning French, so any help would be great! I could teach you a bit of Australian slang in return. Always up for sharing stories too!

Margaux is a vegetarian chef, so I’m sure she would love to cook with you, she also takes pride in her veggie garden, so if you’d like to learn about gardening or share some tips with her she would love that.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Love to share some travel stories and adventures! Margaux is a chef and loves cooking, so I'm sure she would love to take over your kitchen or cook with you and share recipes!
