About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make the world a happier place, one or two surfers at a time. ;)

ABOUT ME

Generally happy, always absent-minded, mostly hard-working, slightly tilted, often confused, enthousiasticly naïve and just as friendly as awkward :)

PHILOSOPHY

Ah, I used to think that I was a utilitarian, but in hindsight, that's just too weird. The fact of the matter is that I like everybody to be happy. Let's keep it at that. ;) And god is dead, sorry, but if you still want to pay hommage to the guy, that's fine with me. :)

The universe is just so awesome and fantastic and at the same time so cruel in making us so insignificant. I guess we all have to find a little bit of space were we can make a difference. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I host when I can and I surf when I need to. :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Used to host people when I lived in Brussels. All good experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

books:
Terry Pratchett (who else)
Peter Hamilton (I'm a sucker for space opera)
Lewis Carroll (well, he IS the original)
Robin Hobb (tears your hear right out, this lady)
Dan Simmons (space opera - eh)
Ken Follet (I'll succumb to a good story, every. single. time.)

music
Save for maybe noise or some obscure trash metal variants I havn't really encountered something I don't like. :)
Favorites off the top of my head are Queen, Passenger, Beethoven, Tsjaikovski, Netsky, Iron Maiden, KT Tunstall, Ben Howard, Foo Fighters, Rage Against The Machine, and so many others
or opera: Peer Gynt (hall of the mountain king) or Magic Flute (queen of the night)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- the people of the Dogon in Mali
- the natural parcs in South Africa
- the volcanoes in Central America
- rainforest in Thailand
- my sisters, they're awesome and continue to amaze me

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I'm pretty good with a sort of broad spectrum approach to science. But when it comes to specifics, I'm afraid things get a bit boring.
What I could (theoretically) teach about are these subjects:
- environment (global warming, environmental technology -especially water treatment, toxins, ...)
- process engineering (any takers? i guess not. ;) )

What I love to learn about:
- travel & culture
- music (i dissappointed myself when younger by not having the discipline to actually learn to play an instrument, but some day I'm going to make up for it. ;) )
- cooking (i know nothing, but i'm willing to learn)
