About Me

*Only just recently moved to Dubai from Cairns Australia. Lived in Australia all my life. Grew up in Melbourne.

CURRENT MISSION

"Love the Life you live. Live the life you love" So "Live as if you'll die tomorrow, Dream as if you'll live forever!"

ABOUT ME

use to fly for a regional airline in Tropical Far North Queensland (where the Great Barrier reef is) love the job, living the dream! I'm easy going, always happy and willing to help!

PHILOSOPHY

Explore the world, broaden your horizons, and go do the things you've always wanted to and stop dreaming about it! Don't count the days, make the days count and "Love the Life you live. Live the life you love" There are only two times in life, NOW and TOO LATE!!! So "Live as if you'll die tomorrow, Dream as if you'll live forever!" Oh... and by the way who said You Only Live Once?? -FALSE! You die once, you live everyday, so make the most of it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

surf, host, show people around, offer local travel advice, meet up for drinks/coffee/food whatever.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Still sort of new to Couchsurfing (since May 2012) but trying to actively get involved where I can. Love meeting new people from all around the world. I try to do the lot, I host, surf and meet up when I can. When I do host, I make the effort of ensuring I have time off to show people around Cairns and where possible meet some other locals as well. So far I have hosted 3 people from Sweden, 1 from Switzerland, 1 from Denmark (got more coming) and I have gone back to catch up and surf with now good friends whom have come to stay at my place in their own country (so doing the reverse) It all started with meeting a lovely couple in Dubai on my first visit over there. I was travelling alone and knew nobody so I thought it would be nice to meet up for drinks and dinner. I'm hoping to do more on my return visit to Scandinavia visit later this year!

Interests

Well...where to begin, I suppose I’ll start by mentioning the obvious, love travelling, seeing the world, meeting new people, learning about different cultures! “Food Glorious food!” Love eating, grabbing a cup of coffee, cooking and going out for a drink or 2 or 3.... also enjoy the nature and the great outdoors, barbecuing, camping, beaches, sports, cycling, flying, kayaking, hiking, partying, catching up with mates, movies, shopping, photography and day dreaming about which travel destination awaits next! Always up for trying new things!

Music, Movies, and Books

Not really a book person. Love a good flick. Every style of music has the right time to be played.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

So many and so many more to discover! I often get most excited about the smallest things in life which the average person doesn't think much of!

I like crazy spontaneous trips overseas. Recently (Feb 2013) decided to do a last minute trip to Switzerland on 7 days off work. Decided to go 5 days before that. Ridiculously short, minimal planning but managed to sit and drink beer overlooking the Swiss Alps in the countryside, eat fondue and chocolate, catch up with a CSer who stayed with me in Cairns before, and met new CSers and more drinking.

On my way to meeting my new CSers in Switzerland (Zurich), one of them had previously told me they won't be back till the next day snowboarding but the other would be home. When I was 5 mins away, the other CSer had been called in to work...I think to meself *F#%k!* but that's ok....they messaged me back and said, I've left the key for you in the mailbox. Make yourself at home!
What? Really?? strangers (now friends) let me into their home without even having met me before. Woh! I was speechless.

ALL THAT, ON MY DAY OFF WORK. Hell YER!!!! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

There is always something to learn and share with random strangers who you've never met before, especially people from half way across the globe who you then become friends with. I have learnt something from every person whom I have hosted/surfed.
Love Scandinavia at the moment, in particular Sweden. would be thrilled to meet and learn more about the language, food, culture etc. great place! want to see more!
