About Me

English, Armenian, Russian/Dutch Jewish and Scottish!

I'm recently graduated and travelling around the States and Canada while I figure out what to do next. I'd like to do something to do with climate change or renewable energy -- so sussing out what the possibilities are. I am travelling with my violin, busking everywhere I go, as I find that it's usually a good place to start meeting people and getting to know a place. My dad makes cellos for a living and music is a constant for me.

This is a link of me playing in Chile:

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

First time on couchsurfing! Travelling around North America after graduating curious to get to know the continent for the first time and, most importantly, the people in it. As everyone on here knows, the people not the sights make the substance of any place.

Music, Movies, and Books

On violin: Classical (Schubert, Mendelssohn, Faure...), folk, klezmer, jazz (Grappelli, Springfield, Screamin' Jay Hawkins), any sort of weird psychedelic mix of all of the above.

Right now I'm listening to Moderat, Princess Nokia, The Specials, Pixies, Big Thief, 2Pac and Jacob Collier. Will dance to just about anything though.

Books! I have been quite overwhelmed with my studies up until recently so Dante, Cavalcanti, Calvino, Pirandello, Cortazar, Agustini, Lorca, Valle-Incan, to name a few. In English I'm reading Phillip Pullman, John Milton, and Yanis Varoufakis.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Last summer I travelled around Greece with a photographer friend, researching the sudden growth in sustainability projects (sustainability schools, eco-communities etc) that had taken root since the financial crisis. And we did it without spending ANY money! Hitch-hiking, volunteering, and experiencing the remarkable generosity of people who will lend a helping hand to complete strangers.
