Hello friends! My name is Will and I am a 24-year-old student from Nottingham. I am studying English language and currently working on a project in the field of dialectology. Dialectology involves the study of accents, dialects, and language variations.

As part of this project, I am looking to record a wide range of short 20-30 minute conversations with people from all over the UK. The main purpose of these recordings is to create a free language learning tool that can benefit those studying English as a second language, as well as those who are simply interested in exploring language variation throughout the UK.

There have been numerous studies conducted worldwide on the impact of accent and dialect on social perception. These studies were carried out by institutions such as the University of Sussex and the University of Chicago and published in journals like the Journal of Language and Social Psychology and the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology. The results demonstrate that people often make assumptions about a speaker's intelligence, competence, and social status based on their accent and dialect.

By the kind donation of people's time, I aim for these recorded conversations to challenge and reduce such assumptions, and instead celebrate the diversity of the English language throughout the United Kingdom.
