About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel as much as I can for the rest of my life. To meet as many people as I can and experiece their lives; Hear their stories and learn from them.

ABOUT ME

Wise and well traveled. I like to find a spot and dwell there for a while. I don't feel that stopping in a town for a day and seeing the sights is sufficient knowledge of that place. I prefer to meet and eat with the locals. See their families and hear their stories. Occasionally I am able to help them in some medical matter and this pleases me. My wife is of the same mind but a much better cook.

PHILOSOPHY

Nobody ever dies saying "I should have spent more time at work." You can always make money but time is the one finite resource in your life. You just wasted 2 seconds reading this. I am fascinated by Quantum Mechanics and the myriad of possible universes it entails. What is real? Apparently, nothing. So why not try everything?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have traveled extensively for the past 40-years. I am currently traveling with my wife on a one-year journey. We started in Germany, Morocco, Spain, Russia,Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Nepal, India and Turkey. Planning on a swing through East Europe and then back to North Africa. Stayed with CS hosts in Germany, Turkey and Slovenia. Cane away from every one of the happier and wiser. Have been able to help my hosts on occasion with my small skill set.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been hosted a half-dozen times so far with more coming and I have been blown away at how surfing has added to my travel experience. You can't beat this with a stick.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Treating natives in Ethiopia for a hodge-podge of diseases and injuries. Hiking the Inca Trail and seeing the sun rise over Machu Picchu. I liked it so much I did it twice. Hiked Annapurna in Nepal. Stayed in Jomsom. Now THAT was an experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have experience in medicine, carpentry, home repair, auto repair, computer repair, travel, cooking and child rearing. I go back to school for a year every 4 years. I want to learn to be a welder or a brick layer or a 3-D printer operator. I want to make something.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My love of philosophy, literature, history and travel. How to make Orange Chicken or fix a piece of furniture. How to treat a minor illness and render first aid. How to look up to the poor.
