About Me

Hello Couch Surfing.com! My name is William Rowe, but call me Willy, like the whale. I'm an Animation Student currently applying to grad school and looking to travel and have a little fun before I commit to something new. I'm very empathetic and considerate, and I love exploring new places and meeting new people more than getting wasted and puking in your toilet. I am currently planning a trip up to the North West with my best friend from college and my younger brother, who is a true adventurer at heart. Would love to meet some new people and have some fun, and of course you will always have a friend if you come to LA! Cheers, and thanks for all the fish!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I guess I'm couch surfing because I'm 24 and I've been working at the same job for a year in the same city with the same results and I think I'm going crazy. So I want to explore and have fun before I turn 50 and have a mid life crisis. On a recent trip I came across a lake high up in the mountains of Yosemite and I thought to myself how sad it must be to be a fish in that pond and never be able to explore all the other lakes or even the oceans of the world. So, in honor of all those poor fishes, I want to go out there and do things and live before I die and have some fun along the way!

Interests

I like drawing, walking around new places, drinking and discussing the existential issues of day to day life, meeting new people, going on "adventures" (because real adventures involve sailing on an old wooden ship for months at a time, but we'll go with the 21st century definition of "camping in Big Bear"), movies (My favorite movies range from V for Vendetta to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs), TV, comic books, video games, music (Alt Rock, Folk, Irish, French music (even though I don't know the words I just think it's pretty)), and eating, god I love eating

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really into folk music at the moment, like Mumford and Sons or the Mighty Oaks, but I also really love British Alt Rock like the Fratellis, Classic rock, happy music, sad music, Lou Reed, Johnny Cash, ELO, Muse, anything on local college radio (except when it's crappy), and of course Black Keys

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once loaned someone I had met 2 months earlier my car so she could explore California before going back to Europe. I got made fun of a lot because of it, and more than one person told me that she was going to steal my car or wreck it or just in general how stupid I was, but I'd rather do something really nice and selfless than see someone miss out on the opportunity to see something incredible.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know how to cook really good food! And I can give you drawing lessons if you're interested. I minored in philosophy so I know that too. And I would love to learn anything and everything you have to share. Life is about growing and expanding. I don't think one culture is better or worse than another, and I think everyone can learn something new everyday.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have two very comfy couches, I love to cook for guests, and I know LA like the back of my hand. I go surfing every week, so if you've always wanted to try we can go together! I am always willing to be the DD if you want to check out the night life in LA
