About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Cultivating my garden

ABOUT ME

I was born in Dallas, Texas. In 2010 I graduated with a degree in International Relations from the University of Southern California, then went on to work for AmeriCorps in Virginia and Peace Corps in Jordan. Now I'm a grad student finishing up a masters degree at Georgetown in foreign service.

PHILOSOPHY

Wu Wei: the cultivation of a state of being in which our actions are quite effortlessly in alignment with the ebb and flow of the elemental cycles of the natural world. It is a kind of “going with the flow” that is characterized by great ease and wakefulness, in which - without even trying - we’re able to respond perfectly to whatever situations arise.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While I unfortunately don't have spare room at my place in DC I'm able to host while home in Charlottesville, Virginia. Though not traveling much I still hope to surf a bit during breaks and once school is out.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not much so far, but I'm looking forward to trying it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: My Dinner with Andre, Cool Runnings, and the great classic, Nicolas Cage Losing His Shit.

Music: Strange Brew by Cream; The Rain by Calvin Harris; The Gardner by The Tallest Man on Earth; Tyler by The Toadies; and True Love Waits by Radiohead.

Books: The Power of One, (Granpa Chook is my favorite literary character); Life of Pi; One Hundred Years of Solitude.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Alright, this isn't necessarily amazing, but it was very cool for me. One summer I got to visit the Chateau d'If in the Bay of Marseille with my father. I had just finished reading the Count of Monte Cristo, so it was pretty incredible to visit the dungeon.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can make jet airplanes out of dollars, happy to provide a lesson.

Countries I’ve Visited

Costa Rica, Germany, Mexico, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
