About Me

Hi! My name's Will.

I've been retired since I was 29. Seriously. 😂 Soo, now my life is pretty much just traveling, meeting people, and hanging out for a long while in places I find awesome.

I love telling AND hearing stories about adventures and travels especially. Showing up to another culture when not fully prepared can create some interesting and humorous stories. It's pretty much the only way I travel. Idea, purchase ticket, fly, [No Real Plan], land...THEN FIGURE IT OUT. hahaha 😂😂

A few of my stories include:
A stuffed animal, Kiwi, that a very young girl in Iraq gave me to keep me safe on my journeys...ever since then, I had taken an action shot photo of Kiwi in every country I've ever traveled to...well...at least until I got robbed of my backpack in Brussels, Belgium, which is another crazy story!! Being that I like to see the potential for humor in most things...I continued Kiwi's legacy and created "MISSING" posters with a photo of Kiwi saying "Missing... Last seen..." Haha! Now I hang up and take a photo of a missing poster with Kiwi's photo in every country...Kiwi's memory lives on!!! :D haha

I've been in peaceful and combat zones alike, and I've learned two very important things that I've found are almost always constant and universal:
(#1) People are curious, and mostly wonderful and warm if you show them respect for their way of life and beliefs, which leads me into
(#2) The most important word/phrase to learn when visiting in any culture or country is "THANK YOU."

I love traveling and meeting up with travelers. I'm one of the very few people in this world that was lucky enough to be blessed with a generous retirement package.. all before the age of 30. Soo.. being young and un-anchored, I've decided to travel now instead of wait until I'm an old man like most people. I worked extremely hard at a very early age in my life to be in the situation that I am now, and I'm going to enjoy the rest of my life...and I want as many people to benefit from my joy and positive laissez-faire attitude as I can before I leave this world. :))

btw, I'm American.
Im one of the open minded, funny Americans that you heard rumors existed. haha 😄

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
i host. i surf. i attend events. i generally love cool people.. who doesn't?

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
first started in 2010 when i went on a solo trip to the netherlands, and people were really open to couchsurfing. i know it sounds cliche to hear this, yet it's true none the less: "i love meeting people and sharing cultures and experiences." I am the type of person that goes somewhere and never sees any of the tourist attractions/sights...instead, i choose to explore local hangouts and meet natives and expats. then i come home with great tales of new friendships. this is what is soo unique to the couchsurfing community. it allows us connect with like minded and amazing people. :)

Interests

my chocolate lab, Zoë. she's a peach. :)

i can be a bit of an adrenaline junkie at times. i skydive when i can, which by the way, is incredibly awesome. i play a lot of pick-me-up sports games when i can.. mostly Ice Hockey. and when the weather's warm.. it's a pretty good bet that you'll find me on the water wakeboarding, jetskiing, swimming, or kayaking.

And obviously traveling is a BIG interest.
