About Me
CURRENT MISSION
end poverty, nonviolent communication, restorative justice
ABOUT ME
I am currently pursuing a Masters in Arts degree in Business Communication online at Jones International University and will graduate in December this year (2011). I will then take a few months off before starting my PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies at Union Institute and University in Cincinnati, OH. My major specialization will be in Martin Luther King, Jr. Studies. I will concentrate in either Ethical and Creative Leadership or Public Policy and Social Change. My primary interest is in re-inventing or re-engineering large institutions so that people are encouraged to gather in the spirit of voluntary cooperation for mutual benefit. I believe strongly that poverty must be ended in my lifetime.
PHILOSOPHY
Left-leaning libertarian politically. I favor such things as Instant Runoff Voting and other ways to increase participation in the democratic process. I'm also very committed to the concept of worker-ownership and in fact I'm working on starting a worker-owned traditional New York City diner in Brooklyn, NY United States in 2012. I deeply believe in empowering each other and ending poverty.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have one friend who introduced me to CouchSurfing but have not yet been able to participate. This will be my first experience and I'm truly looking forward to it.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've slept on many couches in my life, but never through this network. I'm really excited to participate more. There is a group that meets periodically in New York City but I haven't been able to attend their meetings due to schedule conflicts. I intend to log in more often and find people who want to have coffee with me. I've just noticed that it is possible to find such people right in my own neighborhood of Flatbush/Ditmas Park, Brooklyn, NY United States
