Hi there! I'm Willo

I'm 23, just graduated from University, and ready to pack up and head over the South America for 8 months of travelling! I've always had a strong desire to go travel, meet people, learn about other cultures, see the world, etc. I left for a world trip in 2015, but sadly had to break it off and return home before it could even properly start. So this time around, I'm more than ready and incredibly excited!

I'm a pretty laid-back person, excited about tons of different things and activities, and very willing to try new stuff!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting interesting people and getting to see new places through locals' eyes is exactly what I'm looking for!! When coming to a city, i find it ideal to get to feel the vibe of a place as people actually live it, and find wonderful gems you'd never find in tourist recommendations. Making connections with the locals, meeting fellow travellers, learning about the culture from within, and having interesting conversations with other people who are excited about meeting strangers from other places- that's where its at!

Interests

One of the things i enjoy most in life is human connection, and having conversations that kinda go beyond the daily life stuff. I love learning from other peoples' experiences and perspectives, and together trying to make a little more sense of this weird thing called life.
I love music. I'm a singer, and i play guitar, drums, and piano. I also write my own songs sometimes (rarely these days- uni's been busy).
I love anthropology a bit too much probably. Trying to wrap my head around societies, cultures, values, ways of life, systems of power, and learning so much about others and yourself in the process- i love it. Also very interested in the role that language plays in our lives...
I do kitesurfing!! Hoping to find some good windy beaches this year to hang out on for a couple weeks.
I also like cooking a lot! Am doing it more these days and am always interested in learning how to cook local foods!

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music is pretty fluid and i'm always down for hearing new stuff! Some of my favorite more pop-y artists are Hozier, P!nk, Lorde, Adele. I LOVE the colors show. Can really enjoy some good rap, don't play as much Jazz music as i should, and basically am into everything that makes me feel something.

I love reading a lot, havent read so many books in the last couple of years cause that was pushed out of my life by academic reading. Loved books such as The Collector (John Fowles), The Time Traveller's Wife, Catcher in the Rye, and tons of others I can't think of right now..

I like movies that make you think. (and absolutely love me some psychological thrillers)

What I Can Share with Hosts

First of all, i'll be on my best behaviour and I'll be respectful to you and your needs, seeing as you had the trust and openness to invite a complete stranger into your house.
But most of all, I'd love to share stories. Like i said, I love an interesting conversation. I love hearing about peoples experiences, views, and opinions. I'm totally down for sitting down with a beer and talking the whole night through.
