About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Experiencing "real" Japan in 15 days this coming February
ABOUT ME
I was a history teacher at a high school in the US before making the decision to jump across the Pacific and learn more about the many fascinating cultures of Asia.
I have lived in the heart of Seoul for 1.5 years. I have a wonderful girlfriend in Vietnam who is the source of my happiness!
PHILOSOPHY
Here are two quotes I like to follow...
"A ship in a harbor is safe, but ships are not built to stay in the harbor."
"The purpose of life is a life of purpose."

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I love many types but favorites are the classics (The Who, Neil Diamond, the Beatles, etc...)
Movies: Anything the can keep my attention!
Books: I like books that make me think about life and give me new perspectives...but I also enjoy fun books like Harry Potter! :-P
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent a week sailing through and snorkling around the Florida Keys. Incredible!
I met the love of my life while traveling around Vietnam to re-trace the steps of my father from the War era.
I have gone hunting for crocodiles on a jungle late after dark.
I shared a Mexican posada (Christmas tradition) with a friend's family in a small village in Mexico. It was amazing!!
Teach, Learn, Share
I want to learn as much as possible!!
I enjoy exploring cities at dawn and after nightfall. Many cities feel more "quietly" alive at these times to me.
My mother's advice: When you travel, always carry a plastic (non breakable) jar of peanut butter. If you end up in places with limited food options then you can almost always find bread or crackers and this can become a sufficient meal.
(This advice safed my friend and I while riding a 16 hour exposed bus through the jungles of Mexico, Guatemala, and Belize. My friend now claims my mother is a saint!)
