ABOUT ME

I am 37, very low maintenance, well traveled, well read, super laid back and generally either a joy to be around or at least completely painless. ¨Llenas el corazon de la otra persona tan rapida, tienes una buena energia que no puedo explicar.¨ A quote from a friend recently, in English she said ¨You fill the heart of another person very quickly and have a great energy that I cannot explain.¨ I thought that was a beautiful compliment, and hopefully a fitting one. I am a pretty funny dude who can get involved in a conversation easily and blend into a variety of social situations ranging from a university meeting (taught at one for a while) to a rave (um, I don´t remember three years from age 19 to 22).

I am a FIEND for music and sports, I have lost count of the number of events I have attended but it's way over a thousand and I have visited close to 100 stadiums all over the world. I also like food, many different types, my favorite is Japanese but I can also go for a big ass cheesesteak being a Philly veteran.

The whole travel list thing was a pain, so here is a mostly complete list of places I have been first within the U.S. and then abroad
California-San Diego, LA, Santa Barbara, San Fran, Sac, San Jose, Humboldt, Lake Tahoe (lived in SB and LA).

PHILOSOPHY

Make each day your masterpiece.
-John Wooden

Love is the only sane and satisfactory answer to the problem of human existence.
-Erich Fromm

OK, so I stole those, but everything you know you learned from someone else ... that is Wooden´s father talking and he is RIGHT.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well in the immediate I am on the road and looking to make friends, have fun and save a few bucks. I have hosted a lot of people in California, Philly and New York and of course I am willing to do it again!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have spent a good portion of my life on couches but I am new to the site, recommended by some friends!

Musica, film e libri

My favorite books are The Fire Next Time by James Baldwin--a seminal treatise on race that is still not yet completely understood--and a Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole, which is probably the funniest work of art ever produced. I am a man of contrasts.

Films I mostly like comedies with a bit of dark wit, Dr Strangelove and The Big Lebowski are my two favories. I also love the German film Wings of Desire, amazingly inventive and a real surge for existentialism in the late 20th century.

I only watch sports and cartoons on TV really but I watch plenty of both. One day I hope to codify every episode of the Simpsons into single, bound volume that reads something like the Old Testament, perhaps I will call it The Rick James Bible (their joke, not Bill Maher's!. I am a big fan of the Flyers (SO CLOSE!), Sixers, Eagles, Owls and NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPION PHILLIES! If you ever catch me in Philly, I will drag you to the Palestra, we will sneak into a game and you will experience the wonder of the greatest college basketball stadium ever!

I love Love LOVE music! Gun to my head ten favorite artists are Hendrix, The Band, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, The Band, The Roots, Clifford Brown, The Velvet Underground, Otis Redding, Bob Marley, Al Green and Aimee Mann. So that is 11. Shoot me.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

Well I was in attendance when the Phils won the World Series and while I have done a lot of wonderful things for people who have done even more numerous and more wonderful things for me I have to say that takes the cake. Call me immature but I will see Lidge throwing the final strike when the lights go out on me some day.

Insegna, impara, condividi

I know a good deal about the law and the history of black Americans as well as the field of journalism through my education. These are reasonably broad areas and my personal interests are even broader, plus I have experienced a lot so I promise I can fill some dead air and never bore you (OK, seldomly). I can also do some impersonations and characters.

Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa

Both teams played hard, thank you, God bless, g'night.
