About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience the world! And to spread happiness...maybe crack a good joke and drink a nice glass of wine or coffee. Simple, really.

ABOUT ME

I moved to Seattle in August 2009 after living two-and-a-half years in Morocco with the Peace Corps. Some friends and I decided to move out here together and now I am going to graduate school for public administration. Someday I will move on from here to do other things. Maybe a Fulbright in Thailand (if I get it).
I prefer going out to shows, concerts, bars, clubs, all that good jazz. And since Seattle rains a lot the citizens have learned to console themselves with great coffee, beer, and wine. So, be prepared for caffeinated days and beer-filled nights.

PHILOSOPHY

We don't live as individuals and in isolation(there is no independent "I"). We were created by a community and have an obligation to bend all our efforts and work towards bettering that community (on whatever scale you decide to make your community).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While I was in the Peace Corps I would host people and when I traveled during and after my service friends and I would couch surf, particularly in Turkey and Eastern Europe. Always fun.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All my couchsurfers have been PCVs and they are great! So, everyone should host one (hint, hint)... Sad to say that my home in Morocco was off the beaten path so didn't get much traffic.

Interests

Philosophy, wine, comedy t.v., travel, people. Learning about Islam and Eastern Europe (strange combo? maybe), food, hiking mountains, looking at maps, reading lists of things, reading Harpers, New Yorker, Vanity Fair, and Atlantic Monthly cover to cover, learning random languages.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Soon! I have to think hard about it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have nothing to teach but two quotes by Oscar Wilde:

"Work is the Curse of the Drinking Class"
"I have the simplest taste. I am always satisfied with the best"

And maybe one more:

"Until the great mass of the people shall be filled with the sense of responsibility for each other's welfare, social justice can never be attained.”

Helen Keller
