About Me

Seven years ago I left my life in Chicago behind and moved to a commune in the Ozark hills. That was the most courageous and liberating thing that I've ever done, and despite the creature comforts I had to sacrifice... I do not regret it.

I am many things... American, Female, Artist, Gardener sometimes, a Hippy perhaps... et cetera... and I do like to connect with people on these things... but I do not like to be limited by one aspect of myself. I am human, above all else, and I try my best to be a kind human.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have never traveled outside of the United States, except for Canada once, and I seek to connect with the people who live in the places I end up going.

I often have found that in this capitalistic world, that if you go somewhere as a "tourist" in the classical sense (that is, paying/buying/being a customer), then your interactions with people are going to be limited to such.

I have hopes that if I were hosted by someone through couchsurfing, perhaps a more real human-to-human connection could take place.

Music, Movies, and Books

Simon and Garfunkel
Beirut
Alice in Wonderland
I am a big fan of Neil Gaiman's works.
I am also a big fan of Jean-Pierre Jeunet's works.

Seeing this list of my favorite media... the thing they all have in common is that they are all whimsical and magical.

So I like whimsical and magical things. Yes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This is a strange question.

"Amazing" is rather subjective, is it not?

I'm here, right now, typing this. On a lit-up screen. With a keyboard. That's kind of amazing.

No? Well, then. One time I bought a ton... and I mean literally a ton of helium balloons, which I attached to the roof of my home. The power of the balloons was such that they lifted my home right up into the sky and carried it... with me in it... right to South America. An undiscovered part, actually, right in the heart of the Amazon. When my house finally landed I looked out the window, and to my surprise, I saw a dinosaur! A Hadrosaurus, I suspected, by its duck-billed appearance. I was mightily frightened, because if Hadrosaurs were around, then it was likely that other, more fierce creatures might also be present.

I could go on, but it really starts to get dull from this point, and I'd hate to bore you.
That is my one amazing thing.

Teach, Learn, Share

My strongest skill is art. Drawing, specifically, but I'm adept with most mediums.

I'm also a pretty good cook, if I do say so m'self! Living at a community, I am adept in cooking for large groups of people, paying attention to dietary restrictions such as Vegan, Vegetarian, and Gluten-Free.

I don't consider myself a teacher, outside of the way that we are all teachers and students simultaneously in this School of Life... but I would love to collaborate with others in shared skills.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Well, I do love to cook. Perhaps I could make a fine dinner.

Also, stories.
Perhaps I could weave a fine yarn. Not literally, of course. I do not know how to do that.

I could probably pull off drawing a picture of a fine yarn, though, if you like. But that might be boring. Perhaps a terrible portrait?

Or, at the very least, I would share gratitude and respect.
