About Me

Odille, one of my best friends, describes me as “quiet but unexpectedly crazy and open-minded, someone who can make situations feel slightly uncomfortable because of the offbeat sense of humor.”

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’m couch surfing, because I love to visit places where I could never go without the people I meet. When I was eight years old I had to walk to my primary school by myself, because my parents and sister were already gone in the morning. Before I went to school I knocked at strangers’ door in my neighborhood to ask if I could sit at their home till I had to go to school. I have always been interested in people and couch surfing gives me the opportunity to meet random people. Locals know the best places to go and I enjoy having a look in their lifestyle and houses.

Interests

I’m currently studying documentary photography at the Royal Academy of Arts, the Hague. Next to photography, I enjoy writing poems, reading psychology books and I love nature. One of my biggest dreams is having a farm, remote from everything, only crowded by nature and animals, while I work as a part-time freelance photographer. I’ve already got my first ever vegetable-garden and soon my diploma, so I’m getting there. This might sound quite boring for some, and on the contrary I actually also really like parties and festivals. Coming from the south of the Netherlands, I learnt to enjoy Carnaval and throw good parties. Whatever I do, I try to find the little kid in me and enjoy life as only kids can do.

Music, Movies, and Books

Amelie, Big Fish, Matilda, Fatwa, Fleetwood Mac, Moby, Peter Gabriel, Erykah Badu, The Cat Empire, Xavier Rudd, James Blake, Nicholas Jaar

What I Can Share with Hosts

Not only that I can teach you some Dutch words, but also Polish ones as I’m half Polish, half Dutch. My favorite activity in a day is eating and I love food. I do have a weird cooking style, so I’m not the best chef, but I make sure to help and I’m very good at eating, actually everything. Oh, except bitter lemon or tonic.
