About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Spend two weeks in Athens, greek islands, and Istanbul.

ABOUT ME

(You've probably guessed that "Intransit" isn't actually my last name. My last name is actually "Carian", but i try to keep the internet-bots from knowing me too well :-)

I'm finally going overseas again! This time with my girlfriend - first time traveling abroad with her!

I'm a really laid back person who finds the humor in everything. Why be upset when amused is more fun? I'm also sort of a nerd and athlete at the same time, so i love sports as well as board games. Go figure.

My last euro trip was fantastic, ESPECIALLY the couchsurfing aspect. I had a great time hanging out with fellow couchsurfers at a host's place and wandering around together, I've gone out and partied with hosts, stayed in and cooked with hosts... it's been awesome. Each CSer i've met has brought some local flavor to the table and made the trip much more enjoyable. I can only hope that i do the same. Sadly, i'm from wisconsin, so that flavor probably really isn't that interesting, but i love to have a good time (and do the dishes :-)

PHILOSOPHY

Life is meant to be enjoyed... why do so many people insist on taking it so seriously? Most of life exists as the interpretation/assimilation of things we can´t control. Might as well enjoy it!

Carpe Diem... I know a lot of people say it, but that doesn´t make it any less important.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I did a trip last year across europe, and while all aspects were great, the CS experiences were amazing - i have to say that it's even better than i imagined it could be. It's a great way to meet cool local people and instantly have a chance to hang out and learn things.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfed in England,France,Italy,Spain,Fiji,Australia, and New Zealand.

Have had all positive experiences! Pretty sure others will say that same about me :-)

Interests

Sports: american football, rugby, football, basketball, volleyball, tennis ... if it's a sport, i probably love it

Computers: both for enjoyment and for $$

Games: big fan of serious board games like chess, go and backgammon as well as the more social and laid back ones. Like a billion other people, i've also been a big fan of poker for the last several years. Raise!

Traveling: I don't know why i haven't traveled more, because whenever i do i love it. I like seeing important places/things, but generally prefer to get off the beaten path and experience the 'local' experience, which is why CS appeals so much to me. It helps that i enjoy all types of food, because the best food (no matter where you are) is home-cooked, and after that the best food i´ve had in restaurants while traveling involves going to a place that has no english on the menu and randomly pointing at something!

BEER!!! Can't come from milwaukee, and not enjoy beer! Well, I guess you can if you want to disgrace the place. Anyway, I love all kinds of beer, and one of the little joys of traveling for me is getting to taste the local stuff. Sometimes it's bad, but it's still a fun experience. And when it's great... Well, life is just a collection of small (hopefully awesome) moments!

I'm also a big fan of long and random conversations. And i do mean random.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Drove 31 straight hours from milwaukee to phoenix in a 24 foot u-haul truck with a friend once. It doesn't sound amazing at all until you are around hour 25 and you realize you somehow still have to drive for 6 more hours...

I can (well, "could"... man this profile is a bit out of date!) dunk a basketball. Some people find that amazing :-)

Went skydiving from 15k feet. That was pretty wild, despite knowing better I was pretty convinced i was going to die! I think having a minor fear of heights made it even better!

Man... I really need to do more cool stuff.
